Soccer
Lot's of road-tripping for the Cards again this weekend, so let's start with the folks staying home. Both Men's and Women's Soccer are playing in the friendly confines of Lynn Stadium on Floyd St. The women get it started this evening with a 7:30 first touch vs Purdue, while the men...oh wait, I forgot, I have to get a "Go Cards, Beat Purdue!" in here...while the men open conference play with Wake Forest coming in to Lynn tomorrow night. Hopefully we can get Case to chime in down in the comments with his thoughts on these games. The last time the women played Purdue, the Cards did come away with the win, but that was in 2013, so it's a little hard to draw too many conclusions from a contest so far in the past. The men did play Wake last year (not a given, even in conference play in Soccer), and took a loss to them 1-2, so the Cards will be looking for some revenge in this one. Both of these contests will be on The ACC Network Extra.
Volleyball
The wide-netters flew out to Vegas yesterday to participate in the UNLV Challenge. There they will@UofLVolleyball tweets, the hashtags alone should keep you entertained. The Cards should really come out of this weekend with three wins, or Jared's "Top 25 at some point this season" prediction could be in real peril. Busboom Kelly and her squad will have one more match on the road after this one, but it's an imminently drivable one down to Lexington to for the 3rd UofL vs UK matchup of the year this coming Friday. So far we're 1-0-1 against the Wildcats. Another win would be a big one for the Cards, both for the overall rivalry, and for the prospects of the Volleyball team in general. Kentucky is sitting in #13 in the Top 25 rankings, so getting this win would be a big upset and a huge boost to UofL's prospects for the year.
meet up with UC Irvine, Weber state, and of course host UNLV. I haven't been able to find any indication that there will be video of any of these, even the UNLV home match, so it'll mostly be twitter and stats trackers to keep up with these. Tune in to Nancy's

Field Hockey
Sowry and her squad head east to Maryland. They get the weekend started with American at 4pm today, and then play host Maryland on Sunday. The Sunday matchup is available via Big10Plus, which is added cost on top of the Big10 ToGo platform. Maryland is in the rankings at 11, two spots behind the Cards (and most of the ACC) while American is down the list at 20, but still a formidable foe.
In Other Action
Football with a noon kick tomorrow. We'll be hustling out of the studio after the conclusion of The Cardinal Couple Radio Hour to catch Paul Rogers on the radio for this one.
Men's Tennis getting their season underway with the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, GA today and through the weekend.
Cross Country coming off of a great victory in a dual meet with Tennessee, heads up to Terre Haute, to the John McNichols Classic hosted by Indiana State.
We will, as mentioned, be on the radio and streaming for The Cardinal Couple Radio Hour tomorrow, so be sure to catch us, as I'm sure it will be a whirlwind tour through all of this, and maybe more shenanigans, depending on what Paulie comes up with.

Paulie currently has no shenanigans planned. With a full complement in the studio tomorrow it just might be a broadcast where I shut up and let the young pups bark. Anything for listeners, right?
ReplyDeleteI would tune in just to hear if Paulie could remain quiet after his opening intros. Meanwhile we sit and wait down here in Naples to see what Ira is going to do. Can't believe it but the liquor store down the road from me is out of almost everything. Crazy, man, crazy.
