UofL Fall Sports Media Luncheon full of smiles and optimism -- Friday Cardinal Couple

Casey and KB discuss the upcoming season
The first annual Fall Sports Media Day luncheon for UofL Volleyball, Women's Soccer and Field Hockey took place Thursday afternoon at the Lynn Stadium Soccer facility and it was an afternoon of positive energy, excitement and some fun and comical moments.

All three coaches are excited for the season and action to be here and in opening remarks to the assembled media, each expressed the believe that their squads benefited from their first seasons in the ACC and would be competitive against opponents in "the best conference for women's athletics in the NCAA".

As Volleyball's Anne Kordes put it:

"Four teams in the ACC are ranked in the top 25 and we're not one of them. We'd like to change that."

Maya McClendon has an opinion or two
We'll have a full show Saturday on the CARDINAL COUPLE RADIO HOUR on WCHQ 100.9 FM with the coaches statements and interviews with Katie George, Inger Katrine Bjerke, Erin Fairs, Casey Whitfield, Vic Stratton, Maya McClendon, Elisa "Chili" Garcia, Nicole Woods and Anne Kordes.

Worldwide and I might just be doing our station sign-in and closing remarks...we've got over 50 minutes of recordings.

Here's a few teasers for the Saturday show:

*What do opposing teams call the Lynn Soccer Stadium?*

*What does Casey Whitfield really think about K.B.?*

*What does Chili Garcia think the biggest challenge is for 2015 Field Hockey?*

*What was Katie George most excited about after the Miss USA pageant?*

*What does Erin Fairs want to pursue after graduation?*

*Where's the "best eats in Louisville" according to Maya McClendon?*

*What have we gotten ourselves into? Hear Paulie's interesting suggestion to Anne Kordes and her unexpected response.*

Paulie and Worldwide have a laugh with FH's Vic, Chili and Nicole
All in all, a delightful two hours spend talking with "the ladies of the fall" and their expectations and preparations for the triad of sports that will be taking place on Floyd, Warnock and Main Streets.

Justine Sowry reveals that there is a lot of lack of sleep this time for her but it's worth it because this is the time of year she lives for...the season.

Be sure to tune in to our radio show Saturday at 11 a.m. to hear the sounds and statements from the first annual UofL Women's Sports Fall Sports Media day luncheon. You won't want to miss Katie George's amazing pep talk for UofL fans or Maya McClendon's dining review.
