ANNE KORDES PRESS CONFERENCE
UofL volleyball coach Anne Kordes held an informal press conference Monday afternoon at the YUM! Practice Facility on campus "The Little YUM" to discuss her decision to resign from her duties at the end of this season.
For Kordes, the decision is two-fold. First, she wants to have another child and needs time off...at least two weeks...to undergo the fertility treatments necessary. Kordes has been trying over the last six months...but due to job requirements...unable to fully undergo the recommended steps. As a single mother, the juggling of raising a daughter and recruit successfully had become an area where a change was needed.

A nationwide search is underway to find her successor and Anne revealed that she has already begun to receive calls from coaches about her associate (Alex Wilharm) and assistant coach (Alyssa D'Errico)

Kordes never could get the Cards to that top level but she was a good coach for the program and I bet the job opening gets a ton of interest.
ReplyDeleteIn reality, Kordes came into the UofL Volleyball program and delivered it into the big-time. She got the Cards into the KFC YUM! Center and hired one of the best young minds in women's volleyball in Alex Wilharm. I hope the Cards do consider Alex for the job. She changed the style of play at Louisville and look at her Louisville resume. 2012 Big East Coach of the Year. 2013 AAC Coach of the Year. 2015 ACC Coach of the year. She was president of the AVCA and Louisville hosted the NCAA Championships in 2012.
DeleteIf Anne is ready to step aside because of a desire to spend more time with her family and help her Dad, Cardinal fans should thank her gratefully for her time here and realize that you might never get a coach of her caliber again.
We hated losing her at St. Louis but realize that what she did in her seven years here was nothing short of spectacular.
Have that second baby and enjoy life Anne. You've earned it. (From a Billikens fan)
