SUNDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
- Volleyball knocks off Minnesota
- Field Hockey today
Getting 15 kills from Laura Blab and 14 each from Maya McClendon and Tess Clark...the UofL Volleyball team knocked off #14 Minnesota last night in Minneapolis in four sets 25-21, 25-27, 27-25, 28-26.
Two serving aces by Katie George helped the Cards pull away from a 15-15 tie to win the first game by four.
In the second game, the Cards led 24-23 but a missed serve let the Gophers back in the contest and they evened the match..going on to defeat UofL by two.
Another close one in game three, Louisville seeing a 23-20 lead vanish but the Cards finally breaking a 25-25 tie with a ace serve and Blab kill.
The Cards closed out the match in another nail-biter...tied throughout and UofL trailing 25-24 before two middle kills from Tess Clark put the Cards ahead. A kill from Blab closed out the game and the match.
A nice recovery for Louisville after losing in straight sets to Wisconsin Friday night.
Blab...who played three years at NC State before transferring to Louisville and Clark...a freshman have bolstered the Cards this season along with newcomer Maggie DeJong.
The three are part of eight new players for Anne Kordes.
Louisville returns home to host the Active Ankle Challenge at Cardinal Arena starting Friday, Sept. 5th. They'll have two days of action...playing Tennessee State, Cincinnati and Appalachian State.

Field Hockey takes to the Trager Stadium turf today at 1
p.m. to face New Hampshire. Louisville (1-0) dissembled St. Louis 11-2 Friday afternoon while N.H. fell to IU 3-2 in the game following the Cards win on Friday.
Coach Justine Sowry will be looking for 70 solid minutes today after lamenting the fact the Cards got a little distracted after jumping out to a 11-0 lead Sunday.
It's understandable...you're beating your opponent every which way possible, it's over 100 degrees on the field and there are a plethora of subs on the field...but it didn't fit well in Coach "J"s wheel-house.
Expect to see the Cards with no slack time today and taking care of business for the duration against the northeastern visitors.
Admission is free for UofL Field Hockey events.
