LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball program officially opened the 2010-11 season on Wednesday by hosting its annual media day activities at the new KFC Yum! Center.
Head coach Jeff Walz, now in his fourth season at Louisville, and the Cardinal players met with reporters to preview the upcoming season. That was followed by an open practice session for the media inside U of L's new basketball home on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Louisville.
The Cardinals return four starters and four letter winners along with a Top 5 recruiting class for the 2010-11 season. Last week the BIG EAST coaches selected Louisville to finish eighth in the BIG EAST Preseason poll. Junior Monique Reid was selected to the preseason All-BIG EAST team.
The Cardinals will face their first outside competition in an exhibition game against Indiana Wesleyan on Oct. 30 in the new 22,000-seat KFC Yum! Center at 4:30 p.m.
