Paul and CARDINAL COUPLE corporate investment guru Charlie "Lobster Boy" MacCallister (pictured above) react to the rumor that Cincinnati plans on coming into Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Friday night with intentions of defeating Louisville in football. We ain't buying it...but the Bearcats did retain the Keg of Nails with a 35-27 win over Louisville.

The University of Louisville lacrosse team won both of their matches in the Lax for the Cure Tournament Thursday at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The Cards, coached by Kellie Young, downed Ohio State and Vanderbilt and are 6-0 in fall tournament action. They'll finish the fall season next weekend in the George Mason Tournament. Penn State, Duquesne and George himself will contest the Cards.
Thanks to all that came out in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Cardinal lacrosse team looks very solid and could be a force to contend with nationally and in the BIG EAST when the regular season begins in the spring.

Mark Beckham's women's tennis team is competing in the Ohio Valley Regional Championships at the Knoxville Racquet Club and Beckham is pleased with the advancement of several of the singles and doubles participants.
Mandy Brown and Julie Fellerhoff advanced in doubles play by beating IUPUI 8-4 and face Tennessee next. A successful outing also for Sarah Miller and Rebecca Shine in doubles...defeating UK 9-7 and they'll try to grab the Memphis tigers by the tail in their next match.
Kaysara Mandry and Gabrielle Duncan won their qualifier over Wright State 8-2 and defeated a second Wright State squad by the same score in first round action. They face Vandy next.
In singles, Sonia Bokhan outvolleyed Middle Tennessee and Miami (OH) foes before falling to Sonia Pleiman from Xavier. Shine, Miller and Fellerhoff all won first round matches in singles play. Amelia Harris and Brown lost their opening matches.
Seventeen schools are represented in the week long tournament.

Field Hockey closes out the home season in Trager Stadium with Villanova on Saturday and Iowa on Sunday. The Iowa game will be televised by WHAS-11 TV. Sean Moth and Suzanne (Irwin) Bush will handle the call. The 10th ranked Cards are 9-5 overall and 3-1 in BIG EAST action. Game times are 1 p.m. both days.
Sunday's game will be a food drive to help area families for Thanksgiving. Fans who bring canned goods with them to the game will be entered in a raffle for a Cardinal Athletics gift basket that will be given away at halftime. Grab a can of corn and get out there Sunday!
Nicole Youman has 12 goals and 13 assists on the season so far and Erin Conrad is averaging 1.53 goals allowed per game...all top of the mark numbers for Louisville this season.

Jeff Walz addressed a packed house at Audubon Country Club Thursday night during the monthly Sportsman's Supper Club meeting. Walz and Bellarmine head basketball coach Scotty Davenport were the featured speakers and each electrified the attendees with speeches about their programs, their philosophies and their goals.
Jeff Walz is the epitome of class. No question is too difficult, no subject too bizarre or taboo and he greets everyone with a sincere and honest reaction and smile. We tend to look at the women's Cardinal Athletics programs here at CARDINAL COUPLE more intensely that most web sites and periodicals...because that is what we do here...we are the fan voice for UofL Women's Sports. WE like what we see in Jeff Walz. He handles success and adversity without breaking stride or over-reacting. He is on a mission...to prepare his players for life during and after their college studies. Basketball is not his only concern...he takes the time to get to know his team on a personal and caring level. Walz is not the flashy "teflon Don" Calipari type nor the larger than life persona emanated by some other women's college basketball coaches.
Jeff Walz is real, down to earth and humble. He is respectful of his success during his four year stay here at UofL but will tell you that he is not content to rest on his laurels and ride out the stay. If the encyclopedia had a picture of "hard word" next to the explanation...it would be Jeff Walz's picture.
Keep on keeping on, coach. I know of 150 folks who are better people this morning because of the wise counsel, philosophy and dedication that you displayed last night and shared with us.

Friday Night under the Lights. In case you haven't heard, the University of Louisvile football team hosts the Cincinnati Bearcats in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium tonight at 8 p.m. The game is sold out...but if you got shut out, ESPN 2 will have the broadcast.
If you go, please heed the plea of head coach Charlie Strong and get your butts into the seats prior to kickoff. This team has worked hard, is vastly improved over last year and deserves your support and respect. Get in there early, get loud and get these guys motivated.
If you don't heed this plea and advice, I'll send Asia Taylor over to your house to beat you in 'one on one' hoops and then you'll need to spring for her favorite pizza. Save yourself...get out of the parking lot and in to the stadium.
Asia does not lose....
