Floyd Street LIVE -- FRIDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

FRIDAYS WITH DARYL 

Hello weekend! 




Floyd Street will be poppin' with multiple home games for several UofL programs this weekend.  Football is on a bye and its going to be a gorgeous fall weekend so if you are able, come on down to Floyd Street and catch the Cards in action.  Good luck keeping up with Jared as he will be popping into almost every facility on Floyd on Friday evening.   Good thing he's got long legs!   Don't forget the sunscreen, Jared! 


SOFTBALL




UofL softball team will play its final home games of the fall season this weekend hosting a doubleheader against Indiana on Friday at Ulmer Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the second game to follow

FIELD HOCKEY

Louisville vs. #24 Duke at 6 p.m.

Duke leads the series with the Cards 12-8.  The last time the two met, Louisville won 1-0 at Duke on Sept 24, 2021.  The Cards are 4-1 at home, Blue Devils are 3-2 on the road this season.

The Cardinals bring a 10-3 record and an 0-3 mark in ACC play into the weekend.  This will be the squad's third straight ranked opponent.  They have played seven games against ranked opponents and are 4-3 in those games with wins against then #4 Michigan, #13 Princeton, #11 Penn State and this past weekend against #16 Liberty.

Aimee Plumb leads the team with 16 points (5G, 6A). She is tied among Louisville's goal scorers with Julie Kouijzer and Katie Schneider with five apiece.  Four of Plumb's five goals have stood as game winners.  She stands second in the ACC in game-winning goals.  Plumb was recently named to the NFHCA Collegiate Watch List.

Duke brings a 5-8 overall record and an 0-4 mark in ACC play into the weekend.  The Blue Devils are coming off an 8-1 win at Richmond on Sunday.

Issy Carey leads Duke with seven goals while Hannah Miller has scored five goals and dished out nine assists for a team-best 19 points.  Piper Hampsch (4-6) carries a 2.34 goals against average and has one shutout on the season.  12 different players scoring at least one goal this season.




The Blue Devils are coached by Pam Bustin, who is in her tenth season at Duke. Prior to that, Bustin spent 13 seasons (1998-2010) as Louisville's head coach. Justine Sowry served as an assistant under Bustin at UofL from 1998-2002. She replaced Bustin after the 2010 season.

Duke is spending their weekend in Louisville as they are set to face the neighboring Bellarmine Knights on Sunday at 11 a.m.



VOLLEYBALL


Louisville vs Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.

A series that dates back to 1980, the Cards are 25-4 against the Hokies all time, 16-1 at home and 9-1 in the last 10 matchups.

UofL currently holds a 15-1 overall record and 6-0 in ACC play.

Claire Chaussee recorded her ninth consecutive match with double-digit kills after two matches this weekend with double-digit kills with 14 against Boston College and 13 against Syracuse. Chaussee is ranked sixth in the ACC in kills with a total of 201 and an average of 3.72 per set.

Amaya Tillman is ranked first in the ACC and 19th in the country in total blocks with 71 and an average of 1.42 per set. Elena Scott ranks fifth in the ACC for digs with a total of 224 and an average of 4.15 per set.

Virginia Tech is 9-8 on the season and 2-4 in the ACC, 2-2 on the road. The Hokies have lost 3 in a row, their last win coming in a 3-0 sweep over BC on Sept 30 in Blacksburg.

 


Against the Eagles, the Hokies were led by junior middle blocker Cara Lewis and senior outside hitter Cera Powell. Powell had 17 kills with an average of 2.13 kills per set. Outside hitter Maddie Slagle had 32 digs with an average of 4.00 digs per set. Anabel Zier had 10 blocks with an average of 1.25 blocks per set to lead the Hokies.



BASKETBALL

WBB Tip-Off Luncheon






The annual University of Louisville Women's Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the event begins at noon.

Tickets are $45 each, or tables for 10 are available for $450, and can be purchased at GoCards.com/WBBTipOff. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

You're gonna wanna meet and greet with a couple of the nation's top transfers according to ESPN.





Louisville LIVE 

Another opportunity to get a glance of your 2022-23 Louisville Cardinals Squads before the season begins, will be next weekend! 

It was announced earlier this week that Louisville legends Angel McCoughtry and Peyton Siva will host the annual celebration.  

There have also been other whispers... 


It will be held next Friday, October 21 at Louisville Slugger Field.
