A couple volleyball announcements came out yesterday, both being good news. With the season around the corner and the Red and Black Scrimmage on Wednesday, we figured news coming soon including the AVCA Rankings.

Louisville comes in at #13 in the preseason rankings provided by American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Cards are one of four teams from the ACC and one of three teams from the State of Kentucky in the Top 25.
Pitt is the highest ranked ACC squad at #9 followed by the Cards at #13. Georgia Tech and Notre Dame squeak in at #24 and #25, respectively.
Reigning NCAA Champion Kentucky is the top team from the Commonwealth at #3 and Western Kentucky comes in at #16.
Louisville returns nearly their entire starting roster with the exception of libero Alexis Hamilton, who graduated. That roster includes three All-Americans in Tori Dilfer, Anna Stevenson, and Anna DeBeer. DeBeer is also reigning ACC Freshman of the Year. ACC Defensive Player of the Year Amaya Tillman and All-ACC performer Aiko Jones are both on the returning roster.
UofL Volleyball also had other news with the addition of Volunteer Coach Linda Hampton-Keith. Coach LHK comes from NC State, where she was head coach of the Wolfpack for four years. She helped NC State to a 21-12 record and the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win in 2017.
Prior to NC State, Hampton-Keith was the head coach at Arizona State for five seasons that included four NCAA Tournament appearances and a #5 national ranking following a 15-0 start in 2015
"We feel very fortunate to add a coach with Linda's experience to our staff. Linda has a history of success at Power Five schools all over the country. We are excited for what she can bring to our program on and off the court," said Coach Dani Busboom Kelly.
We are excited for volleyball to start up soon with the first official match of the season up at Dayton this coming Saturday. Worldwide will be in attendance (I believe) at the Red and Black Scrimmage tomorrow but I am not sure if he'll make the drive up to watch the Cards vs the Flyers.
Happy Tuesday and Go Cards!

6 of the top 13 are Big 10 Volleyball schools? We talk about SEC dominance in college football, but this is crazy.

The Big Ten and Pac-12 have had control over the college volleyball world for a while. The SEC and Big 12 certainly have some tough teams but arent well-rounded top to bottom. Then, you get to the ACC, which has been the weakest of the Power Five conferences in volleyball.
