ANNUAL TIPOFF LUNCHEON AT LOUISAVILLE MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN AGAIN
One of the sure-fire ways to know that Louisville WBB is ready to roll into action again is the annual Tip-Off Luncheon. The Cards return to the Louisville Downtown Marriott again this year for the event.
Just a note, if you plan on attending...it would be a good idea to get your tickets as soon as possible. It sells out every year these days...go to your My Cardinal Account at gocards.com and get them there. The price is $30...or a table of ten for $300.
This is always a fun event...catching up with Cardinal WBB fans you may not have seen in a while and also hearing the players and coach Walz speak. Our guess is that Sean Moth will be on hand to emcee the activities as he does for most of these gala dinners/luncheons for the Cardinal Athletic squads.
Doors open at 11:30 for the noon start.
This will be the third year for the luncheon at the Louisville Downtown Marriott. We were talking last night about some other venues this affair has been held...the floor of the KFC YUM! Center, the Galt House East ballroom, the old Executive West ballroom and...Sonja seems to think the Brown and Williamson Club at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. We've been to banquets there before...softball being one...but the jury is still out in my thinking on whether it was ever at that particular location.
Another great thing about the luncheon is seeing all the players dressed to the nines. It's always great to be reminded that these young women could be fashion runway models as well...
The Cards will jump into action on Nov. 6th. with a Sunday exhibition against Lindsey Wilson. As we discussed on the Saturday morning radio show...THE CARDINAL COUPLE RADIO HOUR...we expect Howie Lindsey, George Lindsey (Goober from Mayberry R.F.D.) Lindsey Duvall, Lindsey Corsaro, Mark Lindsey (lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders), Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac), Lindsey Vonn (skier), Lindsey Graham (politician) and Otis and Owen Wilson to suit up against the Cards.

IF you need basketball right now and can't wait until November...you might venture down to the KFC YUM! Center tonight where the men's basketball squad will hold a Red and White scrimmage. Tickets are only $10 and you'll get a sneak peek at Pitino's players as they prepare for the 2016-17 season. The women's team has been known to scrimmage at halftime in this contest...that probably won't happen tonight...since Coach Walz is in Charlotte for ACC WBB Media Day today. You can watch live!

Jeff Walz is in Charlotte, NC today for ACC WBB Media Day. Wonder if he and "Q" will get together and talk about the upcoming conference race?
I'm watching live right now as I construct this article, Clemson is on the stage and talking about their transition game and the ACC Conference race. So far, a lot of coaches talking about their players...as you might expect. The Cards are scheduled to be on the broadcast around 11:35.
The 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 1-5 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina.
The tournament will make its seventh appearance in the state of South Carolina and its first since a five-year run in Rock Hill from 1992-96. The HTC Center, which opened in the summer of 2012, is located a short drive from Myrtle Beach.
This year’s ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will feature all 15 league teams. Play opens with three first-round games on Wednesday, March 1, and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, March 5.
Speaking of races, we have a new poll up over on the right side of the site. We want your preseason top three in the ACC.
