Louisville Field Hockey spreads the wealth in win over OSU -- Wednesday Cardinal Couple

Six players score in Field Hockey win

Louisville Field Hockey showed their depth today in a 6-3 win over (the) Ohio State University Tuesday afternoon in Trager Stadium. Six Cardinals had a goal each in the win for Justine Sowry's squad. Louisville (7-1) might have been buoyed from rising to #11 in the polls...regardless, there was no letdown from the Saturday win over #1 UNC.

Lotta Kahlert, Shannon Sloss, Becca Maddock, Hailey Netherton, Alyssa Voelmle and Mallory Mason all found the back of the net in a Cardinal win that had Louisville on top 3-2 at the half and never seriously challenged by the unranked Buckeye squad.

Louisville's consecutive win streak at Trager Stadium now extends to 14 games. The Cards take it to the road again...with Friday action against ACC opponent Wake Forest in Winston-Salem and non-conference competition against Liberty on Sunday.

Coach Sowry was matter-of-fact about the victory:

"It was an interesting game today," said UofL head coach Justine Sowry. "We kept reminding our team that if we didn't come out strong and focused today, Saturday's win over North Carolina would mean nothing to us if we couldn't back it up against another good opponent. There were some good things and some not so good things. We tried to keep the game very simple and play to our strengths and keep our identity."

The Cards outshot OSU 17-7 and had a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners.

LOUISVILLE WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHED THE SECOND DAY OF TOURNAMENT ACTION IN COLORADO AND MAINTAINED THEIR 4th PLACE STANDING

The University of Louisville women’s golf team remains in a tie for fourth place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge following a 13-par-over 301 performance on Tuesday in Wolcott, Colo.
Louisville, which owns an 18-over-par 594 through two rounds, is in a tie with Denver still and now trails leaders Tennessee and Pepperdine by 12 strokes.

Laura Restrepo is continuing to pace the Cardinals, tying for ninth on the leaderboard. The junior, after recording an even-par 72 on Monday, totaled a 3-over-par 75 on the second day. Restrepo bogeyed three holes and birdied one on the front nine, before achieving par on eight of the final nine holes.
