WSOC starts regular season tonight vs. Wright State -- Friday Cardinal Couple
CARDS FACE RAIDERS @ 7:30 IN LYNN
The University of Louisville women's soccer team kicks off the regular season tonight when Wright State comes to visit The Palace.
The Raiders are coming off a 6-10-1 2014 campaign. A veteran squad...they return their top seven scorers from last year. Natalie Sedlock, a senior forward, led the way with five goals. In between the pipes, goalkeeper Halle Pyle is back. She had a 0.95 goals allowed per game last season.
Louisville started the 2014 season with a 2-0 win on the road over the Raiders. Isabella Habuda netted both Cardinal scores. She's back for UofL...one of 14 letterwinners from 2014 that are on the roster.
The Cards went 1-1 in the preseason...beating IU 1-0 and losing to NKU 1-0.
-- Shocking stat-- Wright State holds a 12-2-1 edge in the series history between the two squads.
-- Leader on the pitch -- Alison Price scored the goal in the exhibition season. The sophomore is from Clemmons, NC.
-- Did you know? -- The Cards have five international players on the roster and five players from Kentucky.
-- Where do they come from? -- Wright State is located in Dayton, OH next to the Wright-Patterson Air Force base. WSU was founded in 1967. (I didn't know it was losted!)
-- And their mascot, P? -- Why, it's Rowdy Raider!
-- Last time Louisville lost a season opener? -- 2002. The Cards are currently on a 12 opening game win streak.
Should be a good one tonight and the weather looks great for tonight's game. We'll have a full report of the action tomorrow.
