Howie hits the air -- Sunday Cardinal Couple

HOWIE LINDSEY SHOW STARTS MONDAY ON 93.9 FM

WE COULDN'T GET A CONFIRMATION
THAT HOWIE WILL HAVE A GUITAR-
PLAYING CHIMP ON HIS SHOW...BUT
IT WOULD BE COOL IF HE DID....
This couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Howie Lindsey is one of the most knowledgeable people of UofL athletics that I have ever met. Easy-to-get-along with, always a "glass-half-full" demeanor and someone that everybody seems to know.

He's hitting the airwaves on 93.9 FM tomorrow for his own radio show. He'll have the 10-12 a.m. time slot Monday through Friday.

This is good for us fans of women's sports at UofL because he is a fan (and a knowledgeable one) of hoops, soccer, volleyball and more. We hope that he can find time to cover them in his two hour segment.

Howie hit town in 1997 as an undergraduate at UofL. From the Bowling Green area, he matriculated and eventually found himself working for Louisville Sports Report as the operations manager. When CARDINAL COUPLE grew wings and started in 2010, Howie was an inspiration to us because of what he had done at LSR and CSR.

YOU PROBABLY WON'T HEAR MUCH
POLKA MUSIC ON HOWIE'S SHOW.
IT'S A DYING MUSICAL FORMAT.
I remember Jack Coffee introducing him to us over at a Parrish House football tailgate party in the fall of 2003. Howie would host the football signing day parties over at the Parrish House when they were held there. It's grown into a large to-do over at the Brown & Williamson Club now.

A few year later, we teamed up with him and Charlie Springer at Card Game as part of the Floyd Street Federation. He has always been there for us...one of the "good" corporate site guys that understands and supports the role of an independent in this genre...like we are.

GRANDMA TAKES NOTES
DURING ONE OF HOWIE'S
BROADCAST.
I hope that radio doesn't change him. It has happened to some who have made the step and added some sort of broadcast to their resume. I doubt it will. It seems every sports talk show in the area has had him on as a guest or guest host. He's battled "Daryl and Daryl" and Red and Blue Review...a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone. I doubt he'll be nervous. It will be interesting to see how he builds his own format and style for his two hours.

I expect there will be a Soundcloud or some sort of show replay available...since I'll be working my regular job during those hours he'll be on the air.

Howie...we're happy for you and proud of you over here at CARDINAL COUPLE. Have a blast and be yourself.

COACH  TRIES TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF
WHO CHANGED HIS RADIO STATION TO
WCHQ 100.9. WE'RE PRETTY SURE IT WASN'T
SARA OR MONIQUE.
Our Saturday radio show was great fun and Sam the Intern dropped in after coming back from the double-secret, highly classified mission we've had him on.  We played the Walz summer report in it's 20 minute entirety. Despite a snarky Worldwide in the early minutes of the show, this one was a lot of fun and it's available on the heavenly Soundcloud in case you missed it. Link below:
