Oregon Ducks have a surprising 4 recruits in the top 77 2016 Hoopgurlz. What's going on up there?
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like they finally got rid of the ancient mariner & anti-defense guru Paul Westhead and started to focus on overseas talent until Graves can elevate the profile of the program and lock down local kids. There's tons of WBB talent right there in Oregon but they have trouble keeping it home. Reference Shoni & Jude.
ReplyDeleteIf they ever find the secret sauce for recruiting West Coast kids they'll be a force to be dealt with considering all of the Phil Knight money that can fill the uniform and shoe pipeline that seems so important to recruits these days.
Bright future for that program if they don't screw it up. Bringing the Gonzaga basic basketball tradition to the Ducks is a winner from a basketball fan perspective. Graves is a coach and a half.
Oregon WBB has a great tradition back in the day. It pretty much fell apart after Runge got fired. She is an interesting story in herself.
I just looked at her LinkedIn site and lo and behold Runge balled & matriculated at UK. You folks already know all about her history.
