Louisville Women's Soccer picked to finish 10th in ACC Preseason poll -- Wednesday Cardinal Couple

ACC COACHES PICK FSU AS TOP PICK, CARDS 1Oth.

In what can only be considered a "Captain Obvious" move...the league's 14 coaches have picked defending NCAA and ACC Champion Florida State to repeat as ACC Women's Soccer champ. They received 12 of the first place votes and got a 193 total points in the poll. The two other first place votes were divided between Virginia (178) and North Carolina (170).

Louisville has been placed 10th. with 63 total votes...two ahead of Syracuse (61).

PRESEASON COACHES POLL

1. Florida State 193                   8. Boston College 92
2. Virginia 178                           9. Wake Forest 83
3. North Carolina 170                10. Louisville 63

Georgia Tech does not field a women's soccer team.

FSU and Virginia met in the 2014 NCAA Women's College Cup final and six total ACC teams were selected for last year's NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

Florida State landed three players on the preseason All-ACC Team. Notre Dame and Virginia placed two each on the 11 woman roster. No Cards were selected.

The top four teams in the final league standings will advance to the ACC Championship Tournament...which will be held Nov 8th in Cary N.C.

Plenty of work ahead for Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her squad with 10 conference matches...playing Florida State, UNC, Duke, Miami and Pitt in Lynn Stadium and Virginia, Boston College, Wake Forest, Syracuse and NC State on the road. The Cards will not face Notre Dame, Virginia Tech or Clemson in conference play in 2015.

The regular season begins Friday night when Wright State visits The Palace for a 7:30 p.m. match. The Cards have lined up some pretty nifty promos as well for their home matches...
