SUNDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
- Double B's becomes a DBO
(From the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department)
Former Louisville Cardinal standout guard Becky Burke has been brought in as the new Director of Basketball Operations for the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program, Head Coach Daron Park announced Wednesday afternoon.
Burke joins the Titans' support staff after spending four seasons with Cardinals as a player. While at Louisville she was a part of three NCAA Tournament teams, including helping to lead the Cardinals to the NCAA championship game during the 2009 season, and again to the Sweet 16 during the 2010 campaign.
Burke led the Cardinals in scoring in both her sophomore and senior seasons, putting up 13.8 and 11.9 points per game respectively. During her senior year, (2011-12) Burke led the team in three-point field goals made (81) and three-point field goal percentage (38 percent). She also scored a career-high 28 points vs. Syracuse, while tying the school record for three-pointers made in a game with eight in that contest.
Burke ended her Louisville career as a member of the school's 1,000 point club and became just the second Cardinal ever to participate in the State Farm College Three-Point Championship her senior year, as she placed second.
Before coming to Cal State Fullerton Burke spent a year working for Homefit Personal Training in Louisville, Ky. Although undrafted after graduation in the WNBA, Burke did briefly make an appearance in Poland as a player before deciding to return to the United States and Louisville.
The Clarks Summit, Pa. native earned her undergraduate degree in sports administration from the University of Louisville and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton.

Louisville will look to control the pace and action of the match with their powerful offense...which features WUGS leading scorer Charlyn Corral and 2011 standout Christine Exeter.
We'll recap it in the Monday edition of Cardinal Couple

Congratulations to Becky Burke. Some of you may remember that CSUF's assistant women's basketball coach, Monica Quan was murdered last year by a crazy ex-LAPD officer who ended up killing several others also. Very sad. It was a big story out here in the West not sure how much national press it received. In any case it's a tough situation but a great opportunity for Becky. Wishing her success in her new position and in her graduate studies as well.
ReplyDeleteBB is one of the biggest students of the game that we know. We expect that DOB is just a start in her career in women' college basketball.
