LAX gets the win over Cincinnati 11-10 in overtime -- Friday Cardinal Couple

 LAX CARDS TAKE THRILLER AT UC. 

Louisville Lacrosse overcame a 7-4 halftime deficit and forced an overtime against the Cincinnati Bearcats Thursday at Nippert Stadium. The two squads have built up a pretty nice and challenging rivalry in recent years and yesterday was no exception.

UC jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the LaxCards but Louisville was able to battle back to get within one at 4-3 t the end of the first quarter.  The Bearcats re-established dominance, though, and won the second quarter 3-1 to grab the 7-4 halftime lead. 

Louisville took the third quarter 2-0 to get back within one goal and the fourth quarter was a wild affair, the Cards battling back from a 10-8 deficit to tie it late in the quarter.

The squads went to the extra session and Ella Berg got the game winner in overtime on a wrap around shot, seconds after returning to the contest after sitting out a minute for a penalty. 

Maggie McMahon led Louisville in scoring with two goals and two assists. 

The Cards go to 4-4 with the win and will face Miami Saturday 

  

UofL LAX faces Cincinnati today at noon -- WEDNESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

 1-0 CARDS LAX FACE CINCY AT THE L.L.S. TODAY

After their 10-8 victory over #16 Denver to start the 2025 Louisville Lacrosse season, Scott Teeter's squad remains at the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium to host Cincinnati for a noon contest today. This one was originally scheduled forTuesday but weather conditons necessitated the move to Wednesday.

The Cards are now a ranked squad, being elevated to #19 in the USA Today poll. The visiting Bearcats are 0-1 on the season, falling to visiting Vanderbilt 13-8 on Feb. 8th. Today's match  will be televised on the ACC Network. 

In their last meeting , in 2024, the Cards travelled to Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati and came away with a 18-13 win. Cincinnati is in their inaugural season in the Big12, after previously competing in the A.A.C. The Bearcats were picked to finish fourth in the preseason Big 12 Coaches poll.

Last year, UC had a 10-7 record overall and was 2-4 in the A.A.C. 

They are led this season by a trio of standouts. Camryn Callaghan had three goals against Vandy.  The junior attacker is out of Upper Arlington, OH. Lauren Ottensmeyer is a graduate student attacker is a transfer to UC, who spent her first two seasons at Youngstown St.  Alexis Rich has started 51 of her 53 games at UC. .

Lauren Figas leads Louisville this season with three goals.  Negai Nakazawa has two goals as does Rian Adkins

The Cards will embark on a three game road trip after today's game...visiting Ohioi State, Marquette and California.

Happy March Madness! I've been watching non-stop basketball since Wednesday morning and i aint mad about it 

Can report that Jared has made it safely to Greensboro!! He popped over to the UofL fan zone and got his belly full before catching the night cap of BC vs Miami.  I'm sure he will be at the arena a couple hours by the time this post goes live.  Bring us a couple Cardinal victories, Jared!!  Thanks for representing Cardinal Couple down there!

The weather in Louisville altered the schedule for a couple squads.  Softball was moved to Thursday afternoon but Louisville LAX pushed its match back a couple hours and over to the football stadium for lights since in will be after sunset, a 7:30 p.m. 


SOFTBALL recap

Cardinals wins against NKU 

The Cards secured the 7-0 win over the Norse on Thursday afternoon moving them to 12-4 on the season.  Louisville started slow on offense, stranding 2 runners on base in the 1st and 4th and 3 runners in the 3rd.  UofL was finally able to plate some runs in the bottom of the 5th when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits and an error by NKU.  

Taylor Roby got the win and improves to a 5-1 record in the circle, giving up 4 hits and striking out 9 in 6 innings of work while also going 2-2 at the plate for 2 RBIs. Korbe Otis also contributed with two hits, a run and an RBI.  The Cards had 10 hits and no errors in the contest. 

The win over Northern Kentucky marks Louisville's second straight shutout and seventh this season.

UofL has outscored opponents 90-33.

UP NEXT

Louisville (12-4) will return to action on Saturday against Toledo at 10 a.m. and #22 Northwestern at 5:30 p.m.

LAX preview

The lacrosse game versus Cincinnati has been moved to 7:30 p.m. at L&N Stadium because of weather impacting the Louisville area.

Originally slated for 4 p.m., the Cardinals are looking for their second consecutive win after securing a 15-12 victory over Vanderbilt on Monday.

Cincinnati midfielder Grace Jenny played her first three years at Louisville before transferring back to her home state this season. The Bearcats are led by freshman Camryn Callaghan, who entered the game top three in the nation in goal scoring. The attacker recorded a hat trick on seven shots

Cincinnati sports a 4-2 record and is coming off of heartbreaking loss in overtime to Ohio State 12-13 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals are undefeated (15-0) against their regional rival and 7-0 at home. UofL defeated Cincinnati at Cincinnati 16-9 on March 9, 2022.

WBB preview

Louisville will begin their quest for the ACC title this morning with an opportunity for some payback against Wake Forest after the Deacons gave Louisville a regular season loss.   

This will be the Demon Deacons third game in three days as they defeated Virginia in the first round on Wednesday. Over the past three seasons, Jewel Spear has averaged 18.8 points per game in the ACC tournament in six games.

LAST MEETING

The last time the Cards #BB and Deacs faced off was 36 days ago on Jan. 26 and the Cards fell 68-57.  Louisville took a 34-25 lead into the half but then fell behind in the third quarter and cut the lead down to two twice in the fourth but were unable to overcome the deficit.   

Morgan Jones led the Cards with 15 points to go with 4 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. Hailey Van Lith lead the team with 5 assists to go with 8 points and two steals. Olivia Cochran scored in double figures with 11 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

Louisville lost the third quarter 26-11 to the Deacons. The Cards committed 5 turnovers in consecutive possessions over a five minute period while the Deacs went on an 18-0 run including a 4 point play by ACC star, Jewel Spear. Spear and Elise Williams scored the last 24 points for WF to give the Demon Deacons a 41-40 lead.

Wake Forest upsets FSU  65-54

The Deacons knocked off the Noles after being down by as many as 20 early in the second half.  Jewel Spear 0-8 in the first half finished with 19 points 7 rebounds on 6-11 shooting from the field, good for 54.5%.   After scoring only 2 points in the second quarter, the Deacs outscored FSU 49-20 in the second half.

NC State stomps Syracuse 83-58
Camille Hobby and Jakia Brown-Turner led five players in double figures with 16 points each. River Baldwin went 7-for-7 from the floor and added 14 for the Wolfpack, which shot 61 percent for the game and outrebounded the Orange 41-23.

North Carolina handles Clemson 68-58
Behind Amari Robinson’s 27 points matching a career-high, the Tigers hung around and were within seven (62-55) with just under three minutes left before UNC scored six unanswered points to put the game away.  

Boston College falls to Miami 84-69

Miami’s second victory of the season over the Eagles, and the outcome somewhat resembled the regular-season meeting between the teams. That Jan. 26 game in Coral Gables was also a tight one until the Hurricanes pulled away at the end for an 86-65 victory.

Walz semifinalist for Women's Coach of the Year -- LAX to Cincy -- WEDNESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

WALZ ONE OF 10 SEMIFINALIST FOR COACH OF YEAR

Jeff Walz has been named one of ten semifinalists for the Naismith Coach of the Year. 

Others on the list are Jennie Baranczyk (Oklahoma), Kim Barnes-Arico (Michigan), Nikki Collen (Baylor), Kelly Rae Finley (Florida), Jeff Judkins (BYU), Wes Moore (NC State), Kim Mulkey (LSU), Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and Tara VanDeveer (Stanford). 

For Walz, it's the fifth straight year he's been named as a semifinalist for the award. The Cardinals are 25-4 on the year, finished 16-2 in conference and are fifth in the latest AP Poll and USA Today poll behind South Carolina, Stanford, NC State and Baylor. 

Seven women coaches and three men make up the list of ten. 

The Cards and Walz await Selection Sunday to see what region, rank and dates they'll play in the NCAA Tournament.. The show will be televised March 13th on ESPN at 8 p.m.

Did you know...there have been five different winners of the NCAA WBB Tournament over the last five years its been played?

LACROSSE TRAVELS TO CINCY FOR WEDNESDAY MATCH

The LAX Cards face the Bearcats in Nippert Stadium Wednesday in a 4 p.m. match that'll be shown on ESPN+

Cincy is 3-4 on the year and has won their last two, against Kent State and Akron. 

The Cards played UC in Cincy at Gettler Stadium in 2020, a game Louisville won 16-11. In 2021 the two faced up in the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium, a 13-5 win for Louisville. 

Louisville is 14-0 all time against the Bearcats.

Lax Cruises Past Cincinnati -- ACC Pick Em -- TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

 Lacrosse Cruises Past Cincinnati

It was an easy day for the Louisville lacrosse team as they had no trouble dismantling Cincinnati 13-5.

Louisville, who is ranked #25 in the latest poll, improves to 2-1 on the year. They also improve their record against the Bearcats to 14-0 all-time dating back to when UofL formed a team in 2008.

"I'm really happy with the win. I thought our defense played lights out, but on offense we have some things we need to improve on," said Coach Scott Teeter. "Rachel Florek was a rock in net for us again, which gave us the opportunity to get the win."

Florek recorded 15 saves on the day, just two shy of her career-high and program record which she set against Michigan and Virginia Tech last year. The senior keeper is up to 38 saves on the year.

The record number of saves in a season is 194, set by Brittany Read in 2017. Florek's average of 9.33 saves per game would put her at 140 on the year, assuming the Cards play every game scheduled. 140 would put her fourth in a season.

Her 246 career saves are already fourth in program history. The record is held by Read, who recorded a whopping 323 goals in her career. She is currently on pace to top that.

Hannah Morris recorded a hat trick to power the offense. She is tied for second on the team with six this season  Louisville was quick to put a number on the scoreboard. Bella Karstein found the back of the net just 40 seconds in for her first of two goals on the day. It was part of a 5-0 run over the first 12:10 of the match.

The Bearcats scored their first goal on an unassisted shot with 4:17 remaining in the first half, but the Cards held the 5-1 advantage when the clock went to 00:00.

The second half broight more of a see-saw scoring as the first six goals were traded off between the Cards and Bearcats with Louisville starting the scoring 89 seconds into the half. Cincinnati cut the Louisville lead to just three with 14:27 remaining in the match. Scott Teeter got a time out, a play was set, it worked and the Cards answered by closing out the match the same way they started it- a 5-0 run.

In all, eight Cards recorded a goal. Freshman Bella Karstien added two, early in the match, Caroline Blalock has two, Ally Hall was good for two. Freshman Kokoro Nakazawa got her first collegiate score, Allegra Catalano, Paige Richbourg and Kylea Dobson all had a goal each as well. 

Louisville won the draw control battle 10-9, but got beat on the ground balls 25-20. 

Paulie continues to have interference problems with his laptop, so he conducted the post-game interview with Teeter and Hannah Morris via cell phone. We'll see if it gets posted. 

The Cards head to #9 Virginia on Saturday to start a three-game road trip. They return home for a Thursday night game under the lights on March 18.

Recapping Sunday Action for WBB, Lacrosse & Softball -- MONDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

TWO "L"'s and a "W" 

The three sports we give most of our coverage to in the spring were all in action yesterday. None of them were in Louisville but Jared and Paulie were in neighboring Cincinnati for Lacrosse to view their win over the Bearcats. In Syracuse, things didn't go as planned for the UofL WBB squad and the Softball Cards closed out their action in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, FL. Here's the recaps....


LACROSSE STARTS SEASON WITH A WIN

Let's start with the good news. Louisville Lacrosse began their 2020 campaign with a 16-11 win over the UC Bearcats yesterday afternoon, getting off to a 8-4 halftime lead and closing out the home team on a day that took a couple of weather turns as the contest progressed. 

Louisville got four goals in the contest from junior Ally Hall to lead Louisville to their 13th. consecutive win over Cincinnati. Falling behind 1-0 to start, the Cards never trailed again...putting up four straight goals, from four different players, to counter the Bearcats early score. Louisville never looked back and three Cards (Hall, freshman Allegra Catalano and junior Caroline Blalock) each had two scores on the sheet as the half ended.

Rachel Florek made some spectacular saves for Louisville in goal-keep. The red-shirt junior totaled nine saves in the match and the rest of the defense was efficiently active early, limiting UC to just one shot in the first half of the first half. 

A overcast, chilly day at start got a bit crazy as the first half ended. Big snow flakes blanketed the field, making the final six minutes a winter wonderland. You could barely see the players leave the field for the locker room at halftime, The Cards picked up two goals in the "whiteness" to creat the four-goal halftime edge. 

Jared Anderson and I headed for the UC press box during the mini-blizzard, after watching the game from the field for most of the opening half. 

Hannah Morris drove home all of her three goals in the second half and the Cards got back-to-back goals from Hall to forge a 12-4 advantage with 16:52 left in action after Morris's second score. From there, UC picked up the pace a bit on the "now clear of snow" field and actually out-scored the Cards 7-4 the rest of the way. 

"I don't think the heavy stuff is going to come out for
quite some time..." 

Morris put her final score in the net with about nine minutes to play and sophomore  Kristen Parker closed out Cardinal scoring at the 2:32 mark. 16-11 the final. CARDS WIN! 

In a post-game interview recap with Paulie, Coach Scott Teeter indicated that he was pretty happy with the overall effort Sunday and he thought they competed for 60 minutes. He knows the Cards have a lot of players who can put the ball in the back of the net and they just have to find them and spread the ball around. Much more with Teeter below:

A nice win on the road to start the season that indicated Louisville has multiple options on the attack, some mid-fielders who are excellent on both ends of the field and create havoc for opposing offenses and a goal-keeper in Florek who blocks shot attempts. All good things. 

We received word that the audio was poor and why the Go Cards website failed to post our post-game interview with Coach Teeter on their Go CARDS site. 

You decide. SID Nick Evans was in Syracuse with WBB, he covers both sports in the spring. I guess we're not ready from prime time, in the eyes of the staffers he sent to the Queen City. 

Nice contributions from the freshman Sunday. Izzy Holmes had three assists, Catalano scored the "hat-trick" with three goals and first-year players Maggie Foster, Megan Mangines, Maddie McDonough and Louisville Eastern High School product Ashley Osbourne drew the starts. 

The Cards host Denver at the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday for the home opener. Admission is free.

WBB HOOPS TAKES SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS 59-51

We were able to follow Louisville Women's Basketball in bits and pieces from Tweets while in Cincinnati....and caught the fourth quarter in the car while heading back to Louisville. 

 Louisville put up just 35.2% shooting, had 22 turnovers and lost the second quarter to Syracuse 15-8 Sunday, to take their second straight loss in the ACC. 

After a firs quarter that saw the Orange in the lead 15-12, Dana Evans connected on the three to tie the contest up. After that,though, Syracuse went on a 15-5 run to close the quarter and hold a 30-20 lead. 

Two threes (from Evans and Jess Laemmle) early in the third session got the Cards close but Syracuse was able to get five points from guard Kiara Lewis to close the quarter and hold the 41-32 lead after three. 

The 'Cuse extended the edge out to double digits several times in the final quarter. It was the lowest point-production of the season for the Cards. The Cards did rally to get within six near the end, shooting a improved 7-11 from the floor (63%) in the final period, but the Syracuse lead was just too much to overcome. 

Jones and Evans combined for 28 of Louisville's 51 points, but were 10-31 from the floor in doing so (32%). 

This lack-of-successful shooting comes after Jeff Walz has indicated he has tried to simplify the offense so better production can occur. Louisville had the highest shooting percentage in the ACC (45.7%) going into the game, but the last two Cardinal efforts have not mirrored that. The Cards are now 21-3 on the year and 10-2 in conference, one game back of league leading NC State. These two will match up Thursday in Raleigh at 8 p.m.

hit two bombs against the Orange for six points. 

Another game where neither team shot 40%.  Counting the Team USA Exhibition, the Cards have failed to reach 60 points in three straight outing now, after two 80+ point totals against Pitt and Notre Dame. 

Speculation will run rampant about the loss. NLet's not forget, though, that Syracuse was here earlier this year and the Cards survived a late Syracuse run to win 62-58. 

Orange fans were looking to celebrate coach Quentin Hillsman's 300th. win in his career and they got want they came for.

I don't have much more to say about this one, so we'll go the Fred Report and summation.




THE FRED REPORT

"What's the matter, Fred?  We lost at Syracuse."  

FREE THROWS -- The Cards got 12 free throws chances and hit eight of them for 66.7%. Four Cardinals attempted them, Jaz leading the way...going 3 for 7. Not quite up to our 70% standards for earning a letter, so we won't assign one. 

REBOUNDING  -- Syracuse out-grabbed the Cards 40-37, despite Kylee Shook's 13 and Jaz's seven. Our standards are if you win the rebounding numbers, you get a letter. Louisville did not. No letter here. 

EFFICIENCY/EXECUTION -- The numbers indicate a sloppy performance in the "E-Stats" 22 turnovers way too many against a team that was 11-11 going into this one and 5-6 in the ACC. The Cards also lost the points-in-paint battle again and Kylee got only six shot attempts in 32 minutes, Liz Dixon none in 18 minutes and Bionca played 26 minutes and went 1-5. Louisville looked unmotivated and listless from parts of this one I saw. I can't assign a letter for 51 points-produced and 5-17 three-point execution.

DEFENSE -- in the scheme of the entire game, the Cards held Syracuse to just 59 points and 35.3% shooting. It's the first time this year the Cards have loss despite holding the foe to under 60. 10 steals is a encouraging defensive number and 18 Syracuse turnovers indicate to me that defense wasn't a major problem for the Cards, expect for they allowed more points than they were able to produce. I'll compromise and go with a small case "d" here.

SUMMING IT UP 

You have to score more points than the opponent to win. That involves shooting the ball better than the foe. Let's hope the Cards can solve the recent lack of production on offense in their next outing against league-leading NC State (who was idle Sunday) at Raleigh on Thursday. Elizabeth Balogun should be back in the lineup by then, but, the problems go deeper than just missing one starter for two games.


SOFTBALL FALLS TO MISSOURI 5-1

Louisville Softball closed out their trip to Clearwater with a 5-1 loss to yet another SEC opponent in Missouri Sunday. The Cards faced SEC squads, Mississippi, Mississippi State and the Tigers in the three-day trip. 

Missouri struck early with two runs in the bottom of the second inning with three hits. Louisville cut that lead in half when Taylor Roby went "grass, track and wall" in the top of the third with her team co-leading second home run of the season, but it was Louisville's only score of the morning. 

Chardonnay Harris (0-3) drew the start in the circle for the Cards, allowing three runs in 2.2 innings Taylor Roby finished the Cards pitching duties, allowing two runs, unearned, in the sixth inning. Roby was 2-2 from the plate and freshman third-base starter Jenna Servi went 2-3 at bat, with a double. 

Louisville next go to Chapel Hill next, for the ACC vs. Big Ten Classic. They'll face Michigan and Wisconsin on the UNC Field.

Lacrosse Takes Down Cincinnati -- Weekend Schedule -- FRIDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

Lacrosse Takes Down Cincinnati at LLS

Four players recorded hat tricks as the Louisville lacrosse team took down an old Big East rival Cincinnati, 18-12.

Kayla Marshall and Shayla Scanlan led the Cards with four goals each while Tessa Chad and Ally Hall had three goals apiece.

The Cards raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first six and a half minutes, but Cincinnati had an answer.  The Bearcats went on a four-goal spurt.  UofL finished the first half on their own four-goal run for a 9-4 lead.

Cincinnati scored the first goal of the second half but Louisville's 6-0 run in a seven minute span put the game out of reach.  The Bearcats scored seven of the final 10 goals of the game, but Louisville won the half -8, and ultimately the game.

Louisville has found success lately, winning three of their last four with the only loss being a triple-overtime sudden death defeat against #15 Duke.

Coach Scott Teeter focused on consistency during the postgame press conference.  The Cards have had no trouble with execution at times during games but it comes and goes, which has hurt them in a couple losses.

UofL improves to 4-6 on the season, just two wins shy of matching last year's win total.  They will host Syracuse at home on Sunday at noon.  As always, admission is free.

Weekend Scheduling


Softball opens ACC play at home with a three-game series against Syracuse.  The Cards have won 10 of their last 11 and are 17-7 overall on the year.  The Orange come in at 8-14 and have been on the wrong side of seven mercy rule games this year.

Louisville is coming off back-to-back mercy rule victories over Morehead State Tuesday night.  Syracuse heads down the road from Lexington, where Kentucky won 13-0 in five innings.

The weather has altered the Friday game, pushing the start time up to 3:00 p.m.  They'll also play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., and Sunday at noon.

Lacrosse also will take on Syracuse.  Their match-up against the 7-2 Orange.  Their losses came against #1 Boston College and #2 Maryland, both of which came down to the wire.

Women's golf is enjoying vacation-esque weather in the Dominican Republic in the Tar Heel Classic.  They will compete on both Friday and Saturday.

Rowing opens up their season down in Tennessee at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational.  The Cards will host the event and welcome 11 other programs.

Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, and Virginia are the other ACC schools represented at the regatta and five of the teams present are ranked in the Top 20.  The Cards come in at #26.

Other than softball and lacrosse campus should be rather quiet as students wrap up their spring break and prepare to start back up on Monday.

Arica Carter injury update -- Early Lacrosse start today -- Dilfer named to USA Collegiate National Team -- THURSDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

LACROSSE FACES BEARCATS AT 10 AM TODAY

How about a little lacrosse with that late morning cup of coffee? 

The Louisville LAX squad gets a early go of it today, with the 10 a.m. match against the Cincinnati Bearcats at the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium. The rain should be pretty much out of the Louisville area by then and the Cards face a Bearcat squad that they've never lost to in 11 lifetime matches. 

One person who will probably be wide awake and raring to go is Cardinal scoring threat Tessa Chad. She set a Louisville single game scoring record in the Cards last outing at Duquesne on Tuesday with nine goals. That also tied the single-game high in the NCAA this season. Louisville won easily against the Dukes 23-13.

The Cards (3-6) face a Bearcat squad on a two-game losing streak. Cincinnati had faced and fell to Central Michigan and Michigan prior to getting on the bus and heading south on I- 71 to visit Louisville. They play their action in the American Athletic conference and were a pre-season fifth pick in the polls. The Bearcats are 3-4 overall, but two of those losses have come to top 25 squads. 


DILFER NAMED TO USA SQUAD

Although she hasn't officially stepped on the Cardinal Arena Court as a Card yet, transfer from TCU Tori Dilfer is bringing an impressive resume with her. The setter has been named to the 12-player roster for "the WUGS" (World University Games).

Dilfer tried out for the squad from March 1-3 out at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. (As far as we know, Walz was NOT out there skiing) and she'll be part of a unit that will travel to Naples, Italy for action from July 4-13. Accompanying her, though, were Cardinals Piper Roe and Melanie McHenry. Other USA teams will be named in the upcoming days. 

Our Volleyball expert, Jeff McAdams, may be updating today's column with additional Volleyball news as well. 

Dilfer, out of San Jose, CA, spent two years at TCU before transferring to Louisville.

If you are a fan of the NFL, you'll probably remember her father, Trent Dilfer, who spend 14 years playing quarterback for Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Seattle, Cleveland and San Francisco. He was the quarterback for the 2000 Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens and is currently the head football coach at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN. 

(Maybe he'll stop by the Football Complex on one of his visits to the Belknap Campus and...OK, never mind...they got enough to sort out over there these days...) 


ARICA CARTER UPDATE

Yes, we have news on the MRI results on Arica Carter's knee. 

Jeff Walz has been on recruiting visits the last few days 
(seven home visits in three days) and that might be the reason that UofL did not release any information on the guard's status. 

Arica has a knee contusion, it is painful, but she should be back in about a week and will be available for first round action in the NCAA Tournament, Walz said this morning. 

A bruised knee is an injury that causes pain and usually discoloration in your patella. Patella is the medical term for kneecap. A bruised knee is also called a patellar contusion. A bruised kneecap occurs from a direct injury to your kneecap.

How do you treat a contusion?

To control pain, bleeding, and inflammation, keep the muscle in a gentle stretch position and use the RICE formula:

1. Rest. Protect the injured area from further harm by stopping play. ...
2. Ice. Apply ice wrapped in a clean cloth. ...
3. Compression. Lightly wrap the injured area in a soft bandage or ace wrap.
4. Elevation.

The Cards await Selection Night to find out where they will be seeded and where they will travel to after playing their first two games at the KFC YUM! Center.
