Volleyball Set for Red/Black Scrimmage
As is tradition, fans of Louisville volleyball will line the sidewalk down Floyd Street as they await entry into L&N Federal Credit Union Arena for their first look at the upcoming season's Cardinals. The annual Red/Black Scrimmage is an unticketed event, so if you want to get in, you'll have to just turn up at the door and hope for the best. The match is scheduled for 3PM, and the doors open at 2. According to the media posting, concessions will be open.
Fans will be excited to see a team that is coming off of a 27-5 season last year and finished the year ranked number 6. The Cards return most of their key contributors last year, so this scrimmage will be an opportunity to see how those players have prepared for the upcoming season and how the newcomers, both transfers and recruits, have adapted to the system and their teammates.
All in all, it should be a good tune-up for Louisville's first match of the season, which is just ten days away. The Cards open the official slate against Wisconsin in the AVCA First Serve Showcase event at the KFC Yum! Center on August 27th.
Softball Releases 2024 Fall Ball Schedule
Volleyball isn't the only team with scrimmaging in mind. Louisville softball has released their schedule of games for the 2024 fall season. There is still some time before they get back out on the diamond, but Holly Aprile's squad lists five events on the calendar to keep them fresh against competition other than themselves in the offseason.
Louisville will play a total of eight games in various formats against teams from the region. They'll get started on September 20th with a double-header against Bellarmine in Ulmer. After that, they'll go to Richmond on the 6th of October for a 10-inning game against EKU. Another Ulmer DH follows when they bring Indiana in on October 11th, and they'll close with a final home double header against MTSU on October 26th. Between those, they'll play a traditional format game against UK in Lexington on Thursday, October 17th.
It should be exciting to see how Louisville will transform year over year with a fair amount of turnover in the lineup.
