The University of Louisville womens' basketball team puts their 11-1 record and #7 ranking on the line today when the Colorado Buffaloes come to the YUM! for a 1 p.m. matchup.
The Buffs come to town after knocking off the University of Denver last Saturday 83-61. CU is 9-0 on the season and ranked #11 in the nation.
Junior forward Jen Reese leads Colorado in scoring with 13.5 ppg. Sophomore Arielle Robertson averages 13.3 a game and grabs 8.7 boards a contest. Senior guard Brittany Wilson is close behind with 11.2 an outing and junior guard Lexy Kresl rounds out the double figure Buffs with 10.9 a night.
Last year the Buffs beat Louisville in Boulder 70-66. It was a contest that Sara Hammond missed because of a death in the family. Louisville will miss Nita Slaughter's 19 points in last year's game. Shoni Schimmel probably remembers the shut down job did on her last season...Shoni scoreless in the first half and ended up with just four points on 2 for 12 shooting. The name Brittany Wilson is one that has probably been on the elder Schimmel sister's mind for awhile.
Colorado leads the series 1-0.
In amassing the perfect record, CU has a few impressive wins...downing Illinois 79-56, Colorado State 63-59 and Iowa 90-87. It'll be the furthest trip they've made this season...only facing New Mexico and Wyoming at their respective campus on the road so far.
Louisville will need to find a way to get Shoni more involved in the offense this year against the Buffs and also find a way to shut down Reese (59% from the floor) as well as keeping Robertson off the boards. Who makes up the missing Slaughter points from last year? Also, Mo Reid totaled 12 against the Buffs. That's 31 points gone from last year's point total...almost half of what the Cards scored. It was also a game where Megan Deines went 5-10 from ithehhe game wit charity stripe. Louisville had the game within two and CU missed a free throw. The Buffs grabbed the rebound though...and added two late points.
It's Louie the Mascots birthday today and there will be the annual mascot game at halftime. The first 5,000 fans will get a schedule poster. $2 beers will be available as well.
Hopefully, not for the mascots.
Brave the rains and head down to the KFC YUM! Center today for exciting womens' college basketball action! Can Louisville keep up their recent 90-100 points per game pace?
The game will also be televised on WHAS 11.2, Insight 432 and Comcast 207...as well on Cards Radio 790 AM WKRD.

Asia Taylor and Bria Smith talk about Nita and the Colorado Buffs game in this visit with Connie Leonard on WAVE TV at the clip below.
I gathered four things from the clip:
1) Connie Leonard knows 'bupkiss' about UofL WBB
2) Megan Deines seems unhappy during the clip
3) Asia Taylor is a lot taller than Bria.
4) Bria didn't let Asia talk enough
