TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
-Bria Smith named BIG EAST freshman of the week
-It's not too late!
-Catching up on BIG EAST WBB
Lady Cards freshman guard Bria Smith was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the week after helping the Cards to a 1-1 record in BIG EAST play last week. It is the first time a Cardinal freshman has received the award this season. Bria is averaging 11.5 p.p.g. for Jeff Walz's Lady Cards.
Smith led UofL in scoring this past week, with 16.5 a game. She tallied 16 against Marquette and had 17 against St. John.
The Lady Cards host USF Wednesday night at the KFC YUM! Center for a 7 p.m. tip. WHAS TV will have the broadcast locally as will CARDS RADIO 790 AM/101.7 FM.

We're no experts, but we bet that Alex Flanagan would pick UofL. (After she finished playing with her hair...) |
Here's a recent entry we got from Nat B. (a USF fan):
USF 66
Louisville 56

3. UConn 2-1
Louisville
De Paul

St. John's

14. Cincinnati 0-3
Pittsburgh

There are some very interesting matchups for Tuesday night.
-Georgetown takes the Sugar Rodgers show to South Bend to play the Irish. Whether they can contain Novosel, Diggins and the rest of Muffet's "Tough-ettes" remains to be seen, but we're predicting the Irish are still unblemished in conference play after this one.
-Providence heads to Husky Country to try and muzzle Geno's
Dogs. We were impressed with PU's win over DePaul. News
flash. This ain't DePaul, Friars...UConn by as many as they want.
-Pittsburgh hosts Rutgers in the Peterson. C. Viv has been getting
spectacular play out of her freshmen and that should continue
tonight against a Panther squad looking for answers and a BIG EAST win.
-Seton Hall travels to wild and wonderful West Virginia to visit the
Mountaineers. WVU has another Carey type, "knock 'em down and pound them in the paint" squad and they should get plenty of thumps in and win over the "still not ready for prime time" Pirates.
-Marquette looks to defend "the Al" against a surprising bunch of Villanova Wildcats. We think that Plouffe has sufficiently recovered from the Cardinal shutdown from last week and MU gets the win in a close one against the "VillaSweeney" bunch.
(How'd we do last week? We predicted 18 BIG EAST contests. We went 14-4. Don't worry, we're not headed to Vegas to start betting WBB in the sports books. We doubt they'd take the action, anyway.)

I predicted Cards 76--Bulls 62. Hopefully on the strength of a packed and very loud arena!

LOL. Mark S. predicted 75-61 UofL. Are you and he on the same psychic wavelength, Starkie?
ReplyDeleteSonja
Give me USF 70 - UofL 66. If SJU can beat you, so can the Bulls.

A question that maybe one of your readers or you can answer, please. Is it St. John, St. John's or St. Johns'? This has drove me crazy for years an I see it all three ways in stuff I read.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love the blog and the addition of your new writers. Are they cuties?
-Dominique "Sexy Back"
Drive-by answer- it's St. John's.
