2012 Signee Cortnee Walton and her St. Mary High School team in Phoenix, Arizona recently won the prestigious Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona. Cortnee’s St. Marys team is currently ranked number 1 in the country by Powerade Fab 50 of high school teams and is currently 11-0.

2013 top prospect Mercedes Russell is having a fantastic junior year of basketball for Springfield High School, in Oregon. Mercedes is a 6-5 post player who recently helped lead her team to victory in the title game of Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyoming. Mercedes broke scoring records for the tournament by scoring 90 points in three games. In the championship game Mercedes notched a triple-double scoring 37 points, pulling down 17 rebounds and blocking 10 shots. This highly contested recruit lists Louisville as one of her schools of interest.
2013 top prospect Stephanie Mavunga, from the nearby suburbs of Indianapolis, plays for Brownsburg High School. Stephanie is ranked 15th in the country and is a 6-2 forward. Stephanie also lists Louisville as a school of interest and is also having a great junior year. Stephanie recently scored her 1000th career point while leading her Brownsburg team to a three-peat in the Hendricks County girls basketball tournament.
Stephanie and Mercedes both will be in town visiting when Louisville takes on #2 Notre Dame on Presidents Day, February 20 at the YUM Center.
