"Let's All Cheer for Christmas Vacation"
The National Lampoons classic is one of my favorite Christmas movies, and it earns a handful of plays at our house during the December Christmas movie rotation. With my birthday following Christmas, I've always been a firm adherent to the rule I created of "I never went to school on my birthday, I'll never work on it." It's a privilege I don't take lightly, but it certainly adds to the Christmas vacation feel that most adults without children don't necessarily get to experience.
Louisville athletics are on a bit of an extended holiday break as well. With volleyball bowing out of the tournament a bit earlier than we hoped and football playing an earlier bowl game, Louisville basketball was set to be the only show in town. Then both teams went and had a two-week break in their schedule. Part of that is because of the rescheduling of the men's Battle of the Bluegrass game to earlier in November. If I'm honest, I still don't know how to feel about that one. It feels weird to play it so early, but at least I don't have to worry about it ruining my birthday. The women are also on a break, with both teams set to begin conference play next week.
I hope that your holiday break has been relaxing and joyful, and I look forward to continuing to bring you the joy and excitement of Louisville women's athletics in the year to come.
Until next time, Go Cards!

Pleased to report Al Parrish had a better night last night, they put him on dialysis and his kidney nunbers are looking better. He's breathing better and the heart is "hanging in there".
ReplyDeleteKeep fightin' boss.

i met Mr. Parrish years ago, I think it was 2010..at his big place across from the UofL football field. My group (West Virginia) was tailgating in the back part of his lot . He and his Parrish House crew showed us the utmost respect, hospitality and cordially and even asked a squadron of uniformed officers to guard us against rowdy Cardinals fans.
ReplyDeleteWe won that day...by a touchdown if I remember right, and I have never been to another away game that put out the spread, drinks and hospitality that those Parrish House folks did. They put out a great spread of food, had a bar set up for us and even held a raffle for the West Virginia fans only where we could buy tickets and the winner got half of the jackpot
(over $500 dollars) . We haven't ever played them down there again, but I will always remember that incredible tailgate experience. I hope you recover Mr. Parrish, and I know a lot of folks down there are pulling for you.
