CALLIE MCKINNEY LEADS KNIGHTS SOCCER NOW
The rise of Callie McKinney's soccer accomplishments off the field and at Bellarmine since her playing days at Louisville have been meteoric, to say the least. From her playing days as a midfielder for the Cards in 2019, just five years later...McKinney is now the head coach of Bellarmine's Women's Soccer program. She arrived at Bellarmine in 2020 as a graduate assistant and was promoted to an assistant coach in 2021.
Bellarmine was 4-9-5 in 2023, ending the season on a five-game losing streak. Those final three losses were at Owsley B Fraizer Stadium in Louisville on the Bellarmine campus, and it was clear that the program needed a change from head coach Paul Babbe The season had started with wins over three DI schools, but ended poorly for the Knights.

McKinney, from Franklin, TN , played in 72 games at UofL ,..with 67 starts from 2015-2019. She also played professionally in 2019 with the Nashville Rhythm.

The Louisville women's soccer squad will face Bellarmine tn Lynn Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 15th..the Knights second game of the season.
Bellarmine has no listing of any of McKinney's assistants yet...there are no former UofL or Louisville area players on the Knights roster for 2024, but several played are listed from nearby South Oldham High School (Crestwood) and New Albany (Indiana). .
The Cards are 6-0 against Bellarmine lifetime in women's soccer but the two schools haven't met since 2004. The Cards will also face EKU in 2024, another ASUN member.
We always love to see former Cardinals rise to new heights in their careers, and McKinney is one we are certainly proud of. We wish her best of luck at Bellarmine in her new role.

With Ferguson-Dayes easing up the schedule somewhat, maybe they can get back over .500 again.
