FRIDAYS WITH DARYL
Is it the weekend yet? I don't know about you all but this week has just draggggged by! I am ready for some time spent at home and able to get back on the podcast with the gang! With sunshine in the forecast I might put out a couple Halloween decorations for spooky szn.
Lets make it a good Friday, shall we?
WOMENS SOCCER
The Irish came into this one winning six straight and ready to make a statement in their match with the Cards as they scored in the first minute of play. The third quickest in program history, 37 seconds to be exact. Notre Dame would not let up for the rest of the half and they managed to find the net 3 times on 11 shots. Korbin Albert led the Irish with two goals assisted by Sammi Fisher both times before the ten minute mark. Just a couple minutes after being subbed in, freshman Sophia Fisher scored her 4th goal of the season.
The Cards were not able to muster a shot until midway through the second half totalling only 4 shot attempts on the night. ND had 19 total shots with 9 of them on goal. On goalkeeping duties, Gabby Kouzelos was able to save 6 of them. She gave way to Hanna Wise in the second half -- hopefully nothing wrong with Gabby!
The Cardinals loss drops them to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in conference. The Cards are in a three -way tie for fourth place in the ACC with Wake Forest and Clemson --with nine points.
UofL will face NC State Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lynn Stadium.
VOLLEYBALL
#3 Louisville Volleyball is back at home this weekend with Boston College and Syracuse on the slate.
Boston College (12-6, 2-2) is currently middle of the pack in the ACC.
The Eagles offense is led by Clare Naughton, Katrina Jensen and Amaka Chukwujekwu. Naughton leads the team with 247 kills with a .233 hitting percentage and has 10 aces, 23 blocks and is second on the team with 165 digs. Jenson is second on the team with 146 kills on a .236 hitting percentage and has 21 blocks and four aces while Chukwujeku has a team high .358 hitting percentage and 64 blocks with 142 kills and four aces.
SOFTBALL
First serve is at 7 p.m. on Friday vs BC and 1 p.m. Sunday vs the Cuse at LNFCU Arena.
FIELD HOCKEY
#3 Louisville Field Hockey is unusually off today. The Cards usually play on Fridays, however, their next bout is scheduled for Sunday at noon at #2 Michigan. It'll be the second #2 ranked squad the Cards have faced this season.
This one is a huge one, in terms of the Cards starting their extended road trip off with a good start. UofL FH has five road game ahead of them. It's also a chance for the Cards to get a "little payback" -- since UM knocked UofL out of the NCAA FH Final Four last year.
(EDITOR'S NOTE)
Sadly, this is on BIG 10 Network +, which means it's a pay-for-view on your laptop or other internet device and won't be on TV. The cheapest rate available is the $9.95 option, if you've used your "free trial" (which is a one-time offer).
The money-grubbing Big 10...

Shame that the Big 10 is handling such a huge Field Hockey match like this. Glad that the ACC has a "network extra". Obviously, Field Hockey doesn't mean that much to the Big 10.

That was probably Lou WSOC's worse performance of the season. And it won't get any easier against NCST.

Missed watching game last night and I'll miss tonight's VB matchup, work, work, work.
