CARDINAL COUPLE MONDAY.
-David Watson's column
(While Paul sleeps in after Super Bowl Sunday...David Watson offers his take on a couple of things. Turn the TV down, please!)
Perhaps the silliest looking touchdown in Super Bowl history |
But, in the words of Caddyshack's Judge Smells..."You'll get nothing and like it.!"
The Patriots allowing the Giants to score at the end of the game made sense. Get the ball back and try to win it. Bradshaw complied...in one of the sissiest touchdown ever.
And, I did like the game. I thought that the halftime show was pretty forgettable, but I've never been a Madonna fan, so if the shoes fits (and if it belongs to Madonna) it's pretty expensive.
David has never been in a commercial... |
And, chimps are always good in commercials. Why do we love them so? They're 99% human in respect to their DNA. They make funny faces and imitate humans doing things, which makes us laugh. More chimps, I say. We all need a good laugh now and then.
That leads me to the Tuesday night game where the Lady Cards face UConn. Does anyone really think this thing is going to be close when the final buzzer goes off? I do hope that Louisville can hang in there for awhile and get the fans fired up. I hope the Lady Cards get a great turnout for the game. I won't be there. Play this game on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and you've got me in the seats. I'll watch, I'll listen. I'll try to keep my chin up and stay positive when the point differential gets big enough to drive a semi through. Two hours in a car to witness a "slaughter" (sorry, Nita) and two hours in a car to think about it and wince on the way home isn't my cup of tea. If I was there, I'd probably need something strong than tea.
Of course, I hope I'm wrong. How great would it be to wake up Wednesday morning realizing you saw Louisville beat UConn? Someday, Lady Cards fans, this will happen for us.
What lies ahead for the University of Louisville basketball team isn't easy. But, there is no easy way to the top if you're determined to get there. Paul referred to lessons learned a lot in his piece yesterday. Tuesday night will be a tough lesson.
The talk going around the room from the women's basketball announcers is about the "big four" and the separation level after that. Those BIG FOUR (UConn, Notre Dame, Stanford and
Finally, enjoy the day off -- Paul and Sonja. I appreciate the hard work you do day-in and day-out keeping Cardinal Couple timely, relevant and entertaining. Thanks for letting me be a part of it and thanks for reading today, Cardinal fans!

(Thanks David, we agree. More chimps! Remember, the entries for the "Win a Panera Card" contest are due in by tip-off Tuesday Night. Pick the winner and the final score. E-mail them to cardinalcouple@insightbb.com)

Walz had a press conference today. What did he say?
ReplyDeleteAs Villanova's coach observed, the Cards do at least have the athletes to match-up with UConn, and Dolson and KLM aren't Charles and Moore. Schimmel on Doty or Farris; Smith/ Slaughter on Hartley; Slaughter/Taylor on Hayes; Taylor/Dyer on KLM; Vails/Warren on Dolson/Buck/Stokes.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying Card would win, but I think with those match-ups, they could make a game out of it. Don't expect to see that, though.
