(Our columnist Jenny shoots straight from the hip here in her comments this evening. She is an example of why UofL has one of the best fan bases...if not the best...in women's college hoops.)
No denying it. My beloved Cards got beat. It was a bad beat. It was hard to watch. Sure, I am disappointed with the loss. Who wouldn’t be? At the end of the day, though, I love this program. I love this team. I read everything I can about this team, and about young players who are striving to join this program. I spend my free time writing about my love for this program. Naturally, I want them to do well. This is my hometown team everyone should love them as I do!
But guess what? The sun still rose today! It’s a new day, a new opportunity. Either the team will learn from their mistakes and do better next time out, or they won’t. Either they will get a bid to the Big Dance, or they won’t. Either they will win 3 games and get eliminated, or make a run to the end, and win it all. I surely cannot control any of it. Regardless of what happens, win or lose, it really does not change my love for this program. Sure, I want to win. I know the kids and coaches want to win, too. For me, though, this is a love, a passion I have for the game.
Sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, a ball will be tossed in the air for the beginning of a new game. Rest assured I will be there. So, Lady Cards, you have a fan for life in me. I may get cranky, make a snarky comment here or there, but know that I love this program and this team. So, get out there, have some fun, and do your coaches and this hometown proud!
(Jenny also found this great read on 2013 Louisville WBB target Mercedes Russell. Give it a click and a read...Jerry Ulmer is one of the best in this business.)

Heard you were going to be there...passed. Honestly, did the previous two years. Not a big item for most of our readers and it's a lot of work. Let the young pups run with it this year. Had a chance to hot tub and have beverages. Maybe next time.

The Louisville Lady Cards fan base WILL be there in force for UConn. If you can dream it, you can acheive it. Beat those Huskys, girls!

U will meet the same fate as the rest of the BIG EAST when u play Conn and ND. Lose big and never be in it. It is a two team conference your Big East is and the ACC and SEC are stronger this year. Youll see that come tournament time.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha. That was a funny joke! Blowouts all over the ACC tonight, Georgia Tech barely beating NC State at home in overtime and South Carolina beat Tennessee on their home court. Silly UK fan!

ReplyDeleteI'm no fair-weather fan, either, Jenny. Go Cards. Winning is great but it isn't everything, nor is it possible every time. Grow and improve.
