Friday Cardinal Couple

You know what?  Its actually Friday, not Thursday like I originally had in the title.  I don't often express a TGIF sentiment, but this week I certainly will. -- JMcA

It's Here! It's Finally Here!

And so it begins.  That special time of year that all good boys and girls look forward to.  No, not Christmas.  It's March Madness.

Louisville doesn't play BYU until tomorrow, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy some other good basketball today.

A couple of games on tap for action today that I think might be particularly good:

  • Washington vs Miami - tips at noon
  • Northwestern vs Arkansas - also at noon
What games are you looking forward to today?  Let's hear about them in the comments.

Princeton Check

We've been checking in on the success of Princeton's Women's Basketball team throughout the year as they
have had an historic season, going through the regular season undefeated.

The Tigers will take on Green-Bay tomorrow at 11:05am.

I now present to you, an excerpt of the best ever player bio in college basketball - from the Princeton Tigers:

Leslie Robinson

Personal: Father and former Tiger, Craig Robinson, is one of only two men’s players in Princeton history to twice be named Ivy League Player of the Year … her aunt Michelle Robinson (Michelle Obama) graduated from Princeton in 1985 and is currently the First Lady of the United States and the wife of President Barack Obama.

Softball Completes the Tour of Ohio

After taking both games of the double-header against Ohio State that Paulie recapped yesterday, the Softball Cards took a slight detour on their way back down I-71 for a stop in Oxford Ohio for a make-up of a previously postponed game.

Shelby McCombs took the circle and went the full seven innings in the 8-1 win over the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks.

The Cards got on the board in the second frame when Whitney Arion and Kayla Soles, who got on base on an error and a double, respectively, got to finish their circuits on a Tiarra Sanabria double.  Nicole Pufahl's hit then brought Sanabria home.

Another circuit was completed in the 3rd inning by Kelsi Jones, who got it started with a single.  Speedster Jordan McNary and Kayla Soles combined to get Jones home.

Miami got on the board in the 4th, but would get no more as The Cards would continue to score consistently.

In the 5th, Maryssa Becker got on with a single, and was replaced on base by the considerably faster Morgan Meyer.  Whitney Arion, Kayla Soles, and Brittany Sims all pitched in to get Meyer around to touch
all four.

The 6th saw Sanabria get on base with a walk, and take advantage of a Pufahl sacrifice and an error on Jordan McNary's at-bat to get the score to 6-1.

Kayla Soles got a walk and back-to-back doubles by Allison Szydlowski and Ashley Nikolao pushed the score to the final of 8-1.

The Cards return home to Ulmer for a weekend series with North Carolina with two games on Saturday and a game on Sunday.
