WBB Championship -- MONDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

Good morning

Reporting from home again this morning as UofL has moved to remote work due to the past week's storms and flash flooding.   It gets pretty dangerous in the area so I appreciate their willingness to adjust.

The women's basketball season has concluded in Tampa Sunday afternoon with the UCONN Huskies back on top of the college basketball world and Paige Bueckers, aka Paige Buckets, and the extremely talented Huskies secure the programs first title in almost a decade.   UCONN had won 6 out of 8 prior to the drought.

UCONN won its 12th title in 2025 by beating Arkansas St 103-34, South Dakota St 91-57, Oklahoma 82-59, USC 78-64, UCLA 85-51 and South Carolina 82-59.

Louisville fell to the Huskies 85-52 back in December 2024.  The last time the Cards beat UCONN was when they won 69-64 in the 2021 season at a neutral site and the Huskies haven't visited the KFC Yum! Center since January 2019 and 2014 the time prior to that.

Congrats to Karen J for winning our Cardinal Couple bracket challenge for this year!  She really knows her stuff and I enjoy our conversations about the games each season.   She's a fellow UofL employee and regular attendee of basketball and baseball games.

Already looking forward to next season :P

Make it a great week!

As Always,
Go Cards
