For Louisville Softball...the waiting game and preparation ensues -- WEDNESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
SOFTBALL PREPARES FOR KEY SERIES AT FSU.
Louisville Softball faces the final series of the regular season and it's a doozy...headed to Florida State this weekend to face the ACC-leading Seminoles. The Cards are currently in second place in the ACC...14-6 in conference with no chance to overtake the 19-1 FSU squad...but presented with a chance to build momentum going into the ACC Tournament and secure a second place seed for the event.
Only the top eight teams in the ACC participate in the tournament, which begins Thursday, May 12th in Raleigh, NC on the NC State campus. Louisville is assured of at least a #4 seed in the event...Notre Dame is 10-6 in conference play and Boston College stands in fourth with an 11-8 record
Notre Dame gets a sneak peek at the tournament site with their final regular season match-up in Raleigh against the Wolfpack.
Fifth through eighth place seeding for the tournament could be a real battle...with six teams currently fighting for those final four spots.
The Cards will depend on the strong arms and bats of Maryssa Becker and Megan Hensley to continue to guide the fortunes of the squad. Getting hits hasn't been much of a problem for Louisville this season...with 10 players currently batting .300 or better...but LOB's (left on base) runners have been a prime concern for head coach Sandy Pearsall and company.
While the horses pound away on Derby Day Saturday in Louisville...the Softball Cards will also hope to be making a key stretch run as they sprint to the finish line of the regular season.
Be sure to check out www.paulsykes.com for updated Oaks and Derby news. The field and post positions have been announced for Friday's Oaks and Paulie will be posting some notes about that later today over there

It's down to Washington and Oregon for Sabrina Ionescu. Who has ever waited this long? Pretty cool cucumber My pick Oregon
ReplyDeleteCal and Oregon St are out.
Alexis Jennings the latest departee for Kentucky. What the heck is going on?
ReplyDeleteShe was slowly improving. Mitchell's really had to wait and show patience with his bigs and look what happens. He loses two of them in last 10 days. Is Rice still on Cats roster? I got her and Jennings mixed up all the time. So funny. They kick our guards butts all the time and we can't remember a big they have.
DeleteAnyway, I am officially changing my pick to Louisville to win "the game that doesn't matter" this December. Go Cards!
