ALL FIVE IN 2016 CLASS GET INVITES
The class...currently ranked sixth with ESPN's HoopGurlz...will know their fate a mere 11 days from today when ESPNU announces the 24 girls and boys that will make up the rosters.
So, how are the five doing?
Johnson, from Duncanville, TX is ranked the second-best post player in the 2016 class. She was named MVP of the recent Sandra Meadows Tournament...where Duncanville defeated their five opponents by over 20 points each.
Shook, a Colorado Springs native, is averaging 29.3 ppg, 15.5 rebounds and 5.1 blocks per game. She's listed as the fourth best post in the 2016 class.
Jones, out of Tallahassee, FL., is averaging 22.5 ppg and 11.5 grabs a contest. Prospects Nation lists her as the 19th best 2016 prospect overall.
Zambrotta, who plays for Christ The King in New York, is currently ranked as the ninth best guard in the class of 2016.
Dunham, playing for Philadelphia's Imhotep Institute Charter squad, is one of 14 girls from Pennsylvania to receive the nomination for the game.
Trying to find stats for Dunham and Zambrotta's current season stats is as hard as looking for snow in Miami.
We wish all five the best of luck the remainder of the season and hope that they all get selected to go to Chicago.

LACROSSE 14TH IN PRESEASON POLL
Believe it or don't...but the Louisville Lacrosse season starts in a month. Nike/Lacrosse magazine has issued their preseason poll and has placed the Cards 14th.
The Cards open their 2016 campaign when Marquette comes to town on Feb. 6th. The Golden Eagles are not ranked but...fear not...the Laxers will get their share of top 20 matches.
Louisville will face #2 UNC, #3 Syracuse, #5 Northwestern, #7 Notre Dame, #8 Boston College, #11 Virginia and #12 Duke during the regular season.
It looks like a challenging spring for Kellie Young's crew. Rankings...for what they are worth...are a nice indicator on what the perception is on a team...but not necessarily accurate or indicative of what's to come.
Louisville has a veteran squad returning with some very good play-makers, scorers and defenders ready to pounce the turf off Floyd Street. They are, however, in a conference with six other teams that are all in the top 12.
Seven teams. All in the top 14. Maybe they should change the name of the sport to LACCrosse.

WBB will have some imposing bigs for the next few years and thus we will not be able to use that as an excuse for losing. I suspect we will not do a lot of losing in the next three or four years. These are exciting time for Louisville Women's basketball
ReplyDeleteShook and Johnson certainly are getting the rankings love and each has a great interior game. I feel Johnson may be better than Lauren Cox. Add them with Cortnee for one more year, Erin DeGrate...who has all the upside in the world...and Myishia...plus Bionca Dunham and a Sam Fuehring who can only get better and the Cards have some mighty tall timber in that there forest, partner.

We really are in for a treat the next few years. Check out this article, dated today, about Kylee Shook. I'm still enjoying whatever this season brings us, not wishing the season away at all. However, I am giddy with excitement with the thought of this entire current squad returning (experience) coupled with the baby birds coming in.

It was a noble try by Shook but she lost control on the way up for the dunk and never had a chance to slam it through. She is an incredible talent, however, and will greatly strengthen the Cards paint presence.
