Six teams in first round today
The ACC Tournament kicks off today in Greensboro, NC and the #10-#15 seeds will vye for the chance to make round two in action. The Louisville team, a #3 seed, is already in Greensboro...leaving last night to avoid the expected inclimate weather due to hit Louisville later today.
Here's the schedule and some observations:
Boston College vs. Wake Forest 1:00
The one promises to be the most exciting and features two different styles. The "3" happy BC Eagles will toss 'em up against a Wake Forest squad that keys around center Dearica Hamby. The Eagles took a one-point win in regular season play at Wake. I expect just as an exciting win...if the Eagles are hitting the three like they did against Louisville and can keep the turnovers down, they should win.
Virginia Tech vs. NC State 3:30
NC State has been on an upswing of late and shouldn't have
a lot of trouble with the slumping Gobblers. If VT can get strong performances out of Vanessa Panousis and Rachel Camp they could hang around for awhile...but Dominique Wilson and the three-point skills of Ashley Williams, Jennifer Mathurin and Len'Nique Brown should give this one to the WolfPack. NC State won the regular season matchup by 14 in Raleigh.
Clemson vs. Georgia Tech 6:30
Nikki Dixon will do everything she can to get the Tigers to Thursday but the skills of Kaela Davis, Roddreka Rogers and Aaliyah Whiteside may be too potent a trio to overcome. These two played twice in conference play and the Techsters took both. It's hard to beat a team three times in one season...but we see it happening today.
Viewing options for the trio of contests include RSN and ESPN3.

Because of weather concerns, the start of the Louisville
Lacrosse match against Duquesne today has been moved up to 11 a.m. Originally scheduled for 3 p.m...then 1 p.m...the rains will fall on this one before the snow moves in.
The Cards are 3-0 with wins over Cincinnati, Canisius and at Denver. Duquesne stands at 1-2...defeating in-town rival Robert Morris.
Sophomore Hannah Koloski leads UofL with 12 goals and Kaylin Morissette has nine and 32 draw controls.

GOLF IN MIAMI
Northwestern, ranked seventh nationally, is in first place
heading into the final round. The Wildcats are the only team currently under-par, shooting six- under through the first two rounds.
Miami, the host team, sits in second at 7-over. Iowa State, Louisville, and South Florida round out the top five, and all three sit just three strokes apart overall.
They'll finish it up with 18 holes today

That will be some nasty weather to play Lacrosse in. I do plan on going this year to see if I like Lacrosse but today won't be that day.

Final in Game 1 in ACC tournament. Wake Forest advances over BC 69-53. Surprising. A 6-point game at the half, BC came out strong to take a 1 point lead and then Hamby took over for WFU.
ReplyDeleteAlso, congrats to Louisville Lacrosse. 16-0 over Duquesne earlier today at the rainy Louisville Lacrosse Stadium.
