SATURDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
- Shoni named to ESPNW 2nd team
- Softball splits on Friday
- Lacrosse at home against Drexel
....plus news on golf, tennis and more!....
Shoni selected to ESPNW Second Team
She's been described as the "brash leader" of the University of Louisville Women's basketball team...and selected for the ESPNW Second team. A fitting award for Shoni Schimmel and really no argument here from us. The first team selections are awfully hard to disagree with:
FIRST TEAM SECOND TEAM
Odyssey Sims Bria Hartley
Breanna Stewart Jewell Loyd
Kayla McBride Stef Dolson
Alyssa Thomas Jordan Hooper
Chiney Ogwumike Shoni Schimmel

As soon as Geno finished filling out the lists, he called Rebecca Lobo to pick them up and deliver them to Charlie C., Michelle V., and the other gremilns who troll the halls up there..

We mentioned that softball had a game Friday. Listed on the tournament schedule. So, naturally they played twice. Wouldn't expect anything different. At least they got the location right and all the teams that were invited did show up.
In the game we knew about, the Cards downed Kent State by a 2-1 margin. The Cards put their runs on the board in the fourth inning. A throwing error by the Golden Flashes on Hannah Kiyohara's infield single allowed pinch runner Jordan McNary and Marge Ruckenbrod to cross the plate.

The Cards also played Iowa State. As we've seen in several doubleheaders this year for UofL, the bats took a siesta in game two. Six Cards did manage to get hits...but no runs were produced by them. Cyclones blow past Louisville 2-0.
Michigan today at 3 p.m. We think.

Lacrosse has moved up the start of today's contest against Drexel to noon. It means we'll miss most of the first half of this one, since the radio show we do on Saturday ends at noon.
It is what it is. Louisville had been idle for a week, losing to the Irish last Saturday after leading at halftime.
The Cards and Dragons battled to the wire against each other last year...Louisville winning 9-8 in Philly. Drexel is 4-3 on the season...like the Cards and plays in the Colonial Athletic Conference.

Quick hits on other sports....
-Women's Tennis is in San Diego and downed the Aztecs 5-2 last night. All three doubles teams won and Rebecca Shine picked up a 'w' in singles...along with Elle Stokes, Cassie Pough and Rebecca Bodine.

We're confident that if Asia Taylor wasn't doing anything else and she happened to stumble across the show...she'd listen. And, if she was hanging out with Shawnta or Shoni...they might listen, too.
