PAULIE TO I.R. LIST IN JUNE

We've covered our share of Cardinal athletes who have been sidelined by hip injuries over the years here. I never thought I'd be reporting one on our staff here, though.

Me.

Due to a degenerating right hip, I'll be going in for hip replacement surgery on June 8th. Too many QB sacks, diving for errant passes in the paint, long jump attempts and swings for the fence in my illustrious youth, I suppose. Or dislocation from prolonged bench-sitting?

(We've all know I'm a degenerate of sorts, right?...now it has spread to my hip).

Confidence remains high...the surgeon has done this for a couple of friends and they walk normally these days. That's something I'm looking forward to...recently I've had to resort to a cane to get around.

Asia Taylor and Tia Gibbs had hip surgeries. They turned out pretty good, right? Just another thing I'll have in common with them beside our love for Cardinal basketball and ham and pineapple pizza.

We'll keep you updated. What it will probably resort to is you, our readers, will be getting more articles from Case and Worldwide Jeff in a couple of weeks for a couple of weeks.

Which is probably a good thing...

  1. Glad you made the decision to have it done Paulie. I know it was preying on your thoughts. I play golf with a guy who had his done last year. He's very happy he went through with it.

  2. Before you guys get excited, my stats article will not be coming this soon. You'll just have to put up with me rambling about other things (hopefully baseball that late into the postseason).

    1. Hmmm...not sure if that was meant for me or Case...in any Case (or case) the opportunity presents itself for creativity and human interest to surface for a brief while...assuming you have any left in your current "non fossil fuel stage"...or have the electrodes taken over?

    2. I think you guys would rather have Paulie out while not much is happening instead of the peak of the fall or spring sports season. I know I as a reader would. The Deb Factor

    3. That was for you, Paulie. :)

Of course, this is all just joshing around, but to explain the comment for Deb Factor and others...it can get really hard to come up with topics to write about during the summer when there just isn't all that much Cardinals news. So, yeah, I'd rather have him on the DL during the height of sports seasons from purely that perspective, though certainly not from others...I wouldn't want him to have to miss sports because of his own time out on injury.

  5. Here's to an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery. Guys I know who have had hip replacements are doing great...and kicking my butt on the golf course.

    1. Appreciate all the boosts guys. It's the mental adjustment that is probably the hardest part right now. Positives help, thank you.
