SAM FUEHRING TO VISIT THIS WEEKEND
New Jersey girls' high school basketball star Sam Fuehring will make her visit to the UofL campus
this weekend.

An impressive list, no doubt, spanning six different conferences.
The 6-3 forward, who is ranked 96th by Prospects Nation in the Class of 2015, is coming off an impressive junior campaign where Lodi Immaculate went 22-6, including victories against Northern Highlands, Piscataway, Rumson and East Orange. The team made trips to the Bergen County Tournament semifinals and the North Jersey, Non-Public B final.
As a junior, Fuehring averaged 20.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Fuehring garnered selections on First Team, All-Bergen, Second Team, All-Non Public, and Second Team, All-Junior last season.
So...why would Walz want her?

Next, she is a true "4". Strong on the baseline....can step out and hit a mid-range jumper and goes to the boards with aggression. Picture an inch taller version of Sara Hammond.
Finally, her defensive skills are above average. In a Walz playbook where defense is what gets you playing time...she fits his scenario well.
Just what Louisville needs...another "Sam" for Coach Walz to interact with...

PLENTY GOING ON THIS WEEKEND FOR WOMEN'S SPORTS
We've mentioned that Field Hockey will be in Virginia this weekend. Volleyball and Soccer visit Morehead this weekend as well. Soccer will come home for a Sunday match against Kent State at 1 p.m. Volleyball will take on Arizona State and Morehead Friday and Northern Illinois Saturday.
Cross Country goes to Vandy to run in the Commodore Classic Saturday and Tennis will spend Saturday and Sunday in Oxford, OH playing in the Miami (OH) Classic.
( The UofL campus could be decidedly vacant of women athletes the next three days...)

Paulie - Do you think that DeGrate's commitment will result in Kiesler opting for Stanford? I know that DeGrate is a more polished player right now, but I've seen Kiesler play and I really like her potential.
ReplyDeleteNot the most exciting of weekends - sports wise - for a campus visit. But, at least our weather will be nice!
ReplyDeleteProbably just a typo, but she is rated 26th, not 96th.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why Kiesler's name keeps coming up with fans in terms of Louisville basketball. Yes she is a local kid, and she is tall. However, that is not a reason to offer a kid a scholarship. That would be unfair to her and the team, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think if there was serious interest we would have been hearing about it via recruiting talk online.
Anybody see where Coach Walz has been this week? On Tuesday, Coach Walz visited 2016 Erin Boley(ranked #9) in her home (E'Town kid). Asia Durr gave her verbal commitment just a few hours later.
Walz then flew to Texas where he had a visit with DeGrate and her family. The very next day he remained in Texas and visited with the #1 and #2 players in the class of 2016 (both are post players). By the way, Asia Durr has played USA Basketball with both of those 2016 kids.
No way, in my estimation, do you give local kid Kiesler a scholly when you are in the ear of #1, 2, and 9 in the country, the very next class.
Just my opinion though, no one pays me to coach anything.
