Myisha Hines-Allen named to AP All-American Honorable Mention squad. -- TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

CARDINAL WBB SOPHOMORE GATHERS ANOTHER POST-SEASON AWARD

Make room in the UofL WBB trophy case. Or maybe bring in an additional one and name it the Myisha Hines-Allen section...the sophomore from Montclair, NJ has been bringing in a lot of hardware lately.

The ACC Player of the Year has been named to the AP All-American Honorable Mention section. She had an excellent season for Jeff Walz's Cards...finishing third in the ACC and leading the Cards in scoring with 17.6 points per game. She also led Louisville in rebounding (8.4). Her shooting % was the highest on the UofL squad (54.7%). She was seventh in ACC free throw percentage (80%), second in defensive rebounds (5.4) and tied for seventh in offensive rebounds (3.0).

Hines-Allen was a three-time ACC Player of the Week...selected to the ACC First Team and the ACC-All Tournament team.

And, yes...she's just a sophomore, Cardinal fans.

The accolades are outstanding for Myisha but we have to wonder if the stats and performance from her this year might have garnered a little higher ranking in the selection process. We figured her for a possible Second Team designation...Third Team at the very least. Only one ACC player gather a spot in the top 15...Brianna Turner landing on the Second Team.

She joins 26 other players as Honorable Mention awardees. There are some pretty good players she's keeping company with in that designation. From the ACC, Madison Cable and Azura Stevens made the grade. It's a bit surprising that no Syracuse players are on the roster. The PAC 12 has just three players appointed...while the SEC landed four in the category for honorable mention.

Nevertheless...congratulations to the hard-working paint-player for the Cards and all who gathered recognition.

CARDINAL COUPLE PICK "EM" RESULTS

Sixty games have been played in the NCAA WBB Tournament and three remain. And, it looks like it has come down to three contestants for the title:

Your FINAL FOUR teams are Connecticut, Oregon St. Syracuse and Washington.

The Deb Factor is still leading the way with a 45-15 tally. She has UConn and Syracuse advancing to the title game and UConn winning it all. Viva "Q" is tied with Jenny O for second place with 44-16 records. Viva "Q" has a Syracuse vs. UConn final with Syracuse winning it all. Jenny O. has UConn playing Maryland.

Can anyone defeat the Huskies? They looked a bit vulnerable early last night against Texas but still managed to win going away. Oregon St. continues to be undeniable...setting the Fighting Mulkeys from Baylor aside in an exciting contest.

Three games to go. Bring 'em out, bring 'em out !!!

  1. Paulie, what do you make of Geno and Dan Shaughnessy's verbal sniping? I'll say it: UConn isn't killing the WBB game. They're dominating it and setting the bar for the rest to reach.

    1. Dan's remarks were mean-spirited and unwarranted. Geno's response appropriate. Dan should apologize to UConn and all of WBB. No need to throw rocks at a program that is successful. The object of the game is to win. UConn has done and continues to do that. Guys like Dan are the assassins...not Geno and UConn. Enjoy picking on the women, Dan? Your Mom must be really proud...

    2. Bad intent from "Shaugnasty". As far as the contest goes, I'm looking pretty good here. Agreed. Bring em out, bring em out. The Deb Factor

    3. Real Joe Hill. I think it works both ways. I didn't bother to watch UCONN vs Texas because I knew UCONN beat Texas by 51 last year. But I sure enjoyed the clinic they put on against Miss St. Awesome basketball team. I did watch Baylor/Oregon St because I thought it would be a good game.

  2. Congratulations to Myisha. I think she should have made second team. She's better than Weisner at OSU

  3. The U Conn dominance is understandable. But two South Carolina players? They got eliminated by Syracuse.

    1. Agreed. Tiffany Mitchell overrated A lot of times you get voted by reputation and hype like Turner of Notre Dame being voted ACC Player of Year. She missed 6 games and is not aggressive around the basket yet.
Super job the last half of the year by Hines-Allen. Her and McCall of Stanford most improved players in my book. Both had monster second half of seasons.

    2. And we got eliminated by DePaul but MHA still made it. You get selected by your body of work for the entirety of the season. Not just what you do in the tournament. Kudos to those girls for their selection.

  4. Davis over Banham on the first team. Hines-Allen third team over Martin.

  5. Last night's highlight - 2.4 seconds left in first half of Baylor-OSU when OSU runs an out of bounds play that gives a shooter a clean look at a last-second 3-pointer. Lil' Kim stars walking toward the locker room as soon as the shooter comes free...swish!

    1. I saw "Sulkey's" response too. She waved her arm at the court like "I've had it." She might be a very good coach but she does not set a good example for her players nor does she represent BU with class.

    2. Got to agree with you Maybe that's her way to get attention for herself but it makes her look like "all recruit-no coach". Not good but she can recruit that's for sure. Think she's a decent person off the court and wacko coach.

  6. Off subj as usual. Some gems out there. I didn't know Nia Coffey NWestern avg 20 points and almost 10 rebounds for the year. That's a player.

    1. Kendall Noble had great game after game for the WKU Hilltoppers this year who lost to South Dakota in the semifinals of the WNIT. They also beat Dayton. Michelle Clark-Heard is getting it done for WKU.
