Louisville Lacrosse Under the Lights tonight...Softball goes to WKU...McDonald's Girls Game -- Wednesday CARDINAL COUPLE
HISTORIC GAME FOR LOUCROSSE TONITE
Tonight's Louisville Lacrosse game against Brown is the first ever in Louisville Lacrosse history that will be played under the lights at the Louisville Lacrosse Stadium.
The LAX Cards (11-1, 3-1) are tied for second place in the ACC and ranked sixth nationally. Going into the Brown game, the Cards are coming off a 15-7 win at home over ACC foe Virginia Tech. Hannah Koloski tallied four scores for UofL and three Cardinals gathered hat-tricks in the win.
Brown is 4-4 on the season...falling to Cornell 10-2 in their last outing. The matchup is the first ever between the two schools and the first time Kellie Young's squad has faced an Ivy League opponent.
Interested in learning more about Lacrosse? A former Louisville Lacrosse player will conduct a Lacrosse 101 fun seminar during the game. Interested parties can meet in the north end zone shortly before the contest.
Lacrosse matches offer free admission and (usually) a food truck. Come out and be a part of this historic game for the Louisville Lacrosse program.

#25 SOFTBALL HEADS TO THE HILL TONITE
Louisville Softball (22-6, 8-1) takes a break from ACC action today with a trip to Bowling Green to face the WKU Hilltoppers for a 7 p.m. contest.
The Cards are in second place in the ACC and currently riding a 10-game win streak. They swept the series last weekend against North Carolina State...scoring at least 10 runs in each of the three games. UofL posted a 19-3 win on Saturday...which featured a 15-run third inning.
Maryssa Becker has posted an 11-4 record and also leads the Cards with a .420 batting average. Megan Hensley is 11-2 on the season and is one of seven Cards batting over .300.
WKU (11-15), a member of C-USA, enters the game off two losses to North Texas. The Cards lead the series 15-3 and won last year's game 1-0 behind a Kelsi Jones home run and a one-hit pitching performance from Becker.

There will also be a Lou Lax alumna in the stands giving a Lacrosse 101 while the game is being played to help people better understand the game.
ReplyDeleteI believe the food truck will be Mark's Feed Store. Assuming all goes to plan.
Worth the price of admission alone.
DeleteThanks for the reminder, Worldwide. I added it to the article and you'll be expected to attend and take copious notes.

We'll see how it goes. I left work early yesterday with a fever of 100.9. Though I feel fine (and no fever!) this morning. *crossing fingers*
DeleteCiera Johnson was the slowest player on the court except for Nancy Mulkey who couldnt bend over to pick up the ball. Ball squirted through her legs several times. Looked like a giraffe. Bizarre.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too. She appears to be out of shape, which is odd since the high school season has not been over that long. I saw potential but a project. Based on last night's performance, no immediate help from her in the upcoming season.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't ( and neither does Coach Walz) read too much into an All-Star game. Johnson owned the paint when she was in there and she shot .500 for the game.

Not really reading a lot into it. Just an observation that she appeared out of shape and will need work. Multiple times she never crossed half court after an offensive possession.
DeleteBut did you observe that the Cards won't play at a breakneck pace like that? Summer conditioning will solve whateve worries you have about her conditioning. I was hoping to see much more from Shook, but all star games aren't really made for big people, it's a guards game. Guards were running done and jacking up three's, not looking to really feed it into the interior. Just about everything Johnson got she got it from the glass on her own. I liked that because one area we had an issue with last year was the ability for our posts to rebound and go back up and score, if she can do that when she gets here she'll be ahead of where we are now currently with the post position in that regard.
DeleteIMHO...Walz will need to find a way to get Johnson in the starting lineup. Maybe sit Walton? Definitely not in favor of moving Myisha to the 3. I need to see more from Shook to make an observation. JJ will compete for playing time as a freshman. Can't wait for the season.
DeleteI don't think that's gonna happen. Despite Walton's offensive inefficiency Walz just flat out trusts Walton out there in a way that he doesn't with the other players, including imo Moore and Hines-Allen. But I was really impressed with Johnson's aggressiveness. If she comes in willing to do the dirty work next year, we'll be ok
