Field Hockey falters at UNC...Golf tied for sixth -- Saturday CARDINAL COUPLE

STICK CARDS HELD SCORELESS IN CHAPEL HILL

Field Hockey is rapidly being reminded that the ACC Conference is pretty unforgiving. Louisville fell behind after 25 minutes of scoreless play and -- to use a term -- the hits just kept on coming in a 5-0 Friday evening loss to #3 UNC.

Louisville head Field Hockey coach was not pleased:

"When you are playing against a team like Carolina you need to bring your best and play as a team. We were far away from that and they made us pay in a big, big way."

The majority of the first half...well, let's be honest here...the majority of the game was played in front of Louisville goalie Ayeisha McFerran and the Tar Heels broke through with ten minutes left in first half action. Three minutes later, UNC found the net again and then tacked on a third score with three minutes left in the half.

North Carolina had a 6-4 shot advantage in the half.

UNC continued the ground assault in the second half. They scored 15 minutes in and added another ten minutes later to win convincingly...out-shooting the Cards 9-4 in the final 35 minutes.

Louisville (5-2, 0-2) will face James Madison Sunday in Chapel Hill.
