LACROSSE STRIDES IT OUT FOR CHILDREN'S CANCER

The University of Louisville Lacrosse team recently participated in the CureSearch Walk for Children cancer at the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park on Sept. 13th.

The walk provided the opportunity to reach out to those children and families affected by pediactric cancer from the Louisville area. The LAX Cards assisted in the walk by staffing volunter stations and participating in children's activities while helping to create a fun and lighthearted environment.

The Cardinals' lacrosse team takes great pride in its ongoing efforts to provide service to the community and has won the CARDSCARE award for the past two years. The award is given to the team that finshes with the most community service hours. In the 2013-14 season, the LAX Cards completed an awesome 1300 hours of service.

"We had so much fun helping out at the CureSearch walk" said senior midfielder Carissa Corbett. Some of us dressed in superhero costumes but the real superheroes were the kids. It was a humbling eperience seeing all of those young children fighting cancer there with smiles on their faces."

Hats of to Kellie Young's Lacrosse squad and all the UofL student-athletes and squads that take the time to share, care and give back to the community! CARDSCARE is just as important as any game.

Field hockey dons the "green" to show their support of non-violence in the picture here. A rare picture of Coach Sowry sans the hat. (I'm sure I'll hear about that last sentence...) Another shining example of the CARDSCARE philosophy alive and strong on campus.
