WBB Rankings -- TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

ACC Places Six in Latest WBB Rankings

(It would now appear Kim Mulkey is ready to fight HVL. I wonder who Angel Reese is backing?)

The latest AP Poll for women's basketball was released yesterday and the ACC continued to show their strength early this season. Louisville questionably dropped a spot in the rankings.

Virginia Tech (2-1) leads the conference at #9. The Elizabeth Kitley - Georgia Amoore duo continues to be one of the best in the country and their only loss was by four against Caitlin Clark and Iowa.

( Wes Moore: "Hey, Can I get in on the fight?")

NC State (4-0) jumped up a few spots to #10. Their upset over UConn recently stunned a good chunk of the country and Wes Moore has some guards who can score at will.

Florida State (4-0) fell one spot to #13. Ta'Niya Latson had a remarkable freshman year and already looks to be better this year. They survived Tennessee a couple games back.

(Doug Bruno asking Walz if he wants to fight...)

Notre Dame (3-1) checks in at #17. I thought the absence of Olivia Miles would slow the Irish down but freshman Hannah Hidalgo is laughing all the way to the bank on that one. Of course, we know how deadly Sonia Citron can be, especially from three-point range.

North Carolina (4-0) sits one spot back at #18. Deja Kelly continues to be one of the best guards in the country and she has a strong supporting cast around her including Alyssa Ustby.

(And Coach replying that he'll fight with two hands...)

Louisville (4-0) is #20. After winning their games against Bellarmine and Bucknell by a combined score of 188-77, the Cards fell a spot. Granted Kansas State shot way up in the rankings after upsetting Iowa (a  bit too far of a jump in my opinion.)

The season is still early. We've barely scratched the surface of the schedule and plenty of things can (and will) change so the rankings don't bother me too much. It is impressive to see how strong the ACC is and the amount of parity there is.

(...and the winner is...Tom Jurich!)

Jeff Walz knows he has no time to rebuild in a conference like this so he just replaced players as they graduate. Many of these new faces have contributed in big ways so far this year. Sydney Taylor, Jayda Curry, Kiki Jefferson, Nina Rickards, and Elif Istanbulluoglu have all seen a good amount of floor time and been effective while on the court.

After being able to watch the last three games in person at the KFC Yum! Center, I'm excited to see how this team develops and the potential they have by the time the season is over.

Happy Tuesday and Go Cards!
Jared

  1. Win and the rankings will change, except the only ranked team as of today coming up this month is #24 Ole Miss.
We lose a game to any of the next three we probably fall out, but, no big deal. Finished last regular season unranked but STILL went to the elite eight, which I'll take over a ranking.
In other news, is there trouble down in the paradise otherwise known as LSU???

  2. Yes, there is trouble in the house of horrors that Kim Mulkey runs don in Bayou Country. Tossing Angel Reese off the team? I just wonder how the little blonde haired girl (formerly known as Hailey Van Whiff) feels about that dynasty down there now. Oh, well, it's a SEC school, did you really expect honesty, above reproach actions, intellient coaches or players and common sense out of that conference?

I hope Hailey and Angel ae good teammates in Croatia next year. lolololol.
