One Month Until Softball -- TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

One Month Until Softball

As Louisville women's basketball regroups following a loss at Duke over the weekend and prepares for a home game against Georgia Tech later in the week, Louisville softball gears up for their season. The Cards will open up play on Friday, February 10.

As expected, Louisville will spend the early part of the season on the road. They start the season in Clearwater, Fla. the weekend of Feb. 10-12. The big name in the five-game schedule for the Cards will be a match-up against rival Kentucky.

Louisville heads a bit further north the following weekend with a visit to Atlanta, Ga. The Cards will face Illinois and Wisconsin each twice in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The weekend of Feb. 24-26 sends Louisville back down to the Sunshine State for the Knight's Classic. Host UCF will face the Cards twice while Louisville will also square off against three other opponents.

Ulmer Stadium will turn its lights on for the first home again on Feb. 28 against Bellarmine. The Cards will remain at home for the opening weekend in March to host the Cardinal Classic.

ACC play begins the second weekend of March as Louisville travels to Durham, NC to take on Duke. They'll stay in that region with a midweek game against Charlotte a few days later.

Louisville's ACC home opener will come the weekend of March 17-19 against Pitt before immediately traveling to Richmond for an early week game against EKU.

The Cards return home the final full weekend of March to host NC State before traveling to Kentucky during the middle of the week for the annual Battle of the Bluegrass.

A trip to Syracuse will close out open up April before Louisville returns to Ulmer against Notre Dame in a rare Thursday-Saturday format on April 6-8.

In an untraditional manner, Louisville will take a break in conference play to play five non-conference opponents from April 11-19, with a mix of them being home and away.

Louisville will visit Virginia the weekend of April 21-23 to resume conference play.

The Cards host Boston College for Senior Weekend to close out April.

The final games of the regular season will come down at Florida State over Derby Weekend.

Assuming the ACC Softball Tournament format remains the same, 10 of the 13 teams will qualify for the tournament, held in South Bend this year.

We will resume our regular women's basketball coverage later this week as the Cards have two straight home games coming up.

*Note: We would like to send positive thoughts and prayers to Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills, who suffered a severe injury during their game last night. We cover several sports (all of them being women's sports at UofL) and understand the risks involved in those various sports. As of 10:30 p.m. last night, Hamlin was in critical condition.*

Happy Tuesday and Go Cards!
Jared

  1. Softball had one good pitcher last year and two good hitters. Need more than that if you are ggoing to contend in ACC
