Bracketology -- Lax Hosts Longwood -- TUESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

Bracketology

AP voters favored the Cards a little more than the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.  In the latest AP Poll, Louisville moved up to #4.

Louisville sits at what is presumed to be the highest 2-seed in the latest Bracketology.  South Carolina, Baylor, Oregon, and Maryland hold the top spots in each region.  The Cards and Terps are in the same region in Fort Wayne (Ind.).

Six ACC schools are listed currently: 2-seed Louisville, 3-seed NC State, 6-seed Florida State, 7-seed Duke, 7-seed Virginia Tech, and 12-seed Georgia Tech.  Boston College is just outside the bubble currently, but can improve their stock in the ACC Tournament.

Of course, several fans have voiced their displeasure with the 2-seed listing (do not forget, the tournament is not set and conference tournaments can change things around), but Jeff Walz has mentioned on several occasions that he just wants to be one of the top 16 seeds.

The top 16 seeds host the first two rounds of the tournament at their home venues, resulting in a strong home court advantage.

Once the conference tournaments are done we will have a definite answer on where the Cards stand and who they'll have to face on the path to the NCAA Championship.

Lacrosse Hosts Longwood

Before basketball picks up this week we have a chance to see Louisville Lax in action.  Scott Teeter's crew hosts Longwood at 1:00 p.m.

The Lancers are 2-3 on the year and are coming off a 15-14 thriller against Old Dominion.

For Louisville, Rachel Florek has been one of the best in the country.  She is top in the ACC and second in the country with 79 saves.  The mark puts her on pace to set the program record for most saves in a season.  Her .537 save percentage is top in the ACC and is sixth in the country.

Ally Hall leads the team with 13 goals, although Hannah Morris is close behind with 12.  Shayla Scanlan and freshman Allegra Cattalano each have 10.

In almost every statistical category Louisville and their opponents are even.

Louisville owns the series against Longwood, 4-0.  The foes have not faced each other since March 2015.

The match will be aired on ACC Network Extra.

ACC Tournament Challenge

Do not forget to submit your brackets!  You can always comment on the site or email myself (eupherjared@gmail.com).  Submissions are due by Wednesday at 1:00, when the first game tips off.

I will have my entry commented on the site later tonight after I get a chance to review the bracket more.

Don't forget, the winner gets to throw a pie in Paulie's face and take care of him after a football game.  I'm sure Sonya will be very appreciative of the latter part.

Happy Tuesday and Go Cards!

Jared
