Moon Golf Invitational -- ACC Championships -- WEDNESDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

Cards Place Second, Hartlage Wins Moon Golf Invitational

In sunny, warm Florida is the Louisville women's golf team.  They wrapped up play at the Moon Golf Invitational yesterday.  The Cards placed second overall with a score of -6 (858).

UCF ran away with the win at 849.  The Cards' score of 858 just snuck in at second. Oklahoma and Campbell tied for third at 859.

Lauren Hartlage took home the gold in the individual.  The junior used a birdie in the final hole for the one-stroke victory of 10-under par.  It is her first individual title of the season.

"It was a solid week for our team as we begin the spring season and always great to be in the last group with a chance to win the tournament," said Courtney Trimble.  "We played really well all week, but stumbled a little coming down the stretch and it ended up costing us the tournament."

Women's golf has a break from events for a few weeks before heading to the Tar Heel Classic in the Dominican Republic March 15-16.

Swimming and Diving Prepares for ACC Championships

#19 Louisville is in Greensboro for the ACC Championships.  Both the swimming and diving teams
will participate in the events.

Last season, the Cards finished runner-up at the Championships, a program best.  They hope to reach that mark or improve on that this season.

Molly Fears is the front-runner for several diving events, in what might be the fastest growing part of the swimming and diving program.

Mallory Comerford, Grace Oglesby, and Mariia Astashkina are expected to lead the charge on the swimming side.

Women's Basketball News

Women's basketball is slated to face a slumping Virginia team tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m., in Charlottesville.

The Cavaliers are 10-15 on the year and 4-8 in the ACC.  They started the season with losses to Mississippi State and Kentucky.  Their four conference wins have come against Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Boston College, and Duke.

Jocelyn Willoughby averages 13.9 points-per-game for Wahoo and is also the leading rebounder with 7.8 a night. VA fell to the Cards 91-43 earlier this season in he KFC YUM! Center and Louisville has a 8-2 advantage in the lifetime record against them.

Paulie will break down the preview against Virginia tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday and Go Cards!
