Busy Day for Under the Radar Sports -- SATURDAY CARDINAL COUPLE

Winter/Spring Sports Galore

With both basketball teams on a break today, preparing for their home double header tomorrow, one might expect the January schedule to be empty for today. One would be wrong. Louisville is in action plenty today, as the late winter/spring sports are swinging fully into action.

Women's tennis will host a double header today with both Wright State and Dayton coming into town. Today's matches will officially open the women's spring schedule. Despite the slight warming in the last couple of days, expect the games to be played in the comfort (and consistency) of the indoor courts at Bass Rudd.

With the women's matches at home today, the men's tennis team is travelling north to take on Purdue. Like the women, I would expect these matches to be played indoors. Unlike the women, the Louisville men's team has already opened their 2018 spring season with a pair of wins over Toledo and Butler University. The men will look to keep rolling when they take on the Boilermakers at 2PM. Video is listed for this one, so if you're a big tennis fan, take advantage of this opportunity to watch Louisville while the Aussies are asleep.

Men's and women's swimming and diving, both teams which are ranked in the top 15, will be taking on the Wildcats from Lexington today. Louisville is seeking to win it's 10th straight meet over Kentucky, and is encouraging any fans that come out to WEAR RED. Given that the tennis matches are at 10 and 4, sneaking over to the Ralph Wright Natatorium could help round out your whole day on campus. The diving competition begins at 12 and the swimming at 1PM.

Last, but not least, indoor track and field is back in action today in South Bend as they're attending the Notre Dame Invitational. There wasn't as much to be excited about last week as they'd hoped, but Louisville has some great competitors, including Emmonnie Henderson, that they will look forward to leading the team throughout the season.

Coach Walz did address the media Friday after the Pittsburgh win:
