Matt Andrews leaving Louisville...Henderson 13th in NCAA Shot Put -- FRIDAY CARDINAL COUPLE
AFFABLE WBB PLAY BY PLAY ANNOUNCER HEADED TO OHIO STATE.
If you've followed The University of Louisville women's basketball program over the last six years, one of the voices that you've come to know and recognize is Matt Andrews. Covering play-by-play for Jeff Walz's squad after the departure of Jim Kelch to the Cincinnati Reds...Andrews also handled the play-by-play for Louisville Bats Triple-AAA baseball.
He heads to Ohio State, where he graduated from college, to handle play-by-play and other duties for the Buckeyes.
Andrews also hosted Walz's weekly radio show with Coach during hoops season. A replacement has already been named for baseball...Cardinal favorite Nick Curran...and the search starts for Cardinal coverage.
In no way do I have any say, input or inside knowledge on who the Bats or Cards will choose...but if he has any interest at all, Alex Perlman would be a good choice. I first ran into him when he was calling WBB for USF several years ago. He's since moved to the University of Arkansas...he also has minor league baseball play-by-play experience. He has a very smooth play-by-play style and does a great post game interview with coaches.
We wish the best of luck to Matt Andrews with the Buckeyes. He was fun to be around during his time here and did a wonderful job with the Cards and the Bats.

E FINISHES 13th IN NCAA SHOT PUT
Emmonnie Henderson finished 13th in the NCAA Championships for the shot put last night in Eugene, OR.
Her 16.37m effort may have been affected by the rain coming down during the shot put toss. Footing is key when going through the process of "putting" the shot.
Still, the throw was good enough to put her on the second All-American team. Raven Saunders (Mississippi) won the event with a very impressive 19.33m toss. Almost three meters further than Henderson's.
A nice effort by "E" to get as far as she did...but she now knows what it takes to be the best at the event.
Emmonnie will participate in the discus on Saturday.

Sue Semrau continues to do a great job down at FSU and is a very competitive foe in the ACC. It'll be fun to see Jazmine Jones go up against the girls in Tallahassee over the next four years.
