Dream v Storm today...USA vs Japan in Women's World Cup Final -- Sunday Cardinal Couple
DREAM LOOK FOR HOME WIN AGAINST STORM
Sitting in the basement of the WNBA Eastern Conference after 10 games probably wasn't what Angel McCoughtry and Michael Cooper envisioned for the 2015 version of the Atlanta Dream.
The usual suspects are there...all the returning starters from last year finally in place...and Angel continues to lead with almost 21 points per game.
Shoni has had trouble getting out of the starting gate. We hope she's a closer.
The Dream are .500 in their last eight games, though. They've been on a bit of an extended break...last playing Friday, June 26th. against the Washington Mystics and winning 72-69. It was a bit of revenge, maybe...since the Mystics blew the Dream up in the preseason in the Atlanta Classic in the KFC YUM! Center.
That one was 46-23 at the half and had more than a few of us contemplating watching the rest from the bourbon bar behind Section 116.
Seattle has started slowly. At 3-8, the Storm have talented players in Crystal Langhorne, Sue Bird and Jewell Loyd but have lost five out of their last six. They haven't been a great road team and Lauren Jackson isn't walking in back through that door...I see Atlanta getting a win.
Angel McCoughtry and Shoni Schimmel are both in second place for WNBA All-Star Voting in the Eastern Conference Forwards (Angel) and Guards (Shoni). Shoni has played one minute for Atlanta in the last two games. It'll be interesting to see if Coop gets her off the bench today against two very good scoring guards in Bird and Loyd.
Game is a 3 p.m. EDT on SportSouth.

USA, JAPAN VYE FOR WORLD CUP TITLE
It has been since 1999 that the US has won the women's World Cup in Soccer. The Japan team defeated them in the finals of the 2011 Cup.
The US had that one won, but lost two leads...the second time on a goal just three minutes from the end of extra time. They also missed their first three penalty kicks in the shootout.
The two will meet today at 7 p.m. EST in Vancouver, BC. USA is #2 ranked in the world, Japan comes in at #4.
Yes, the lineups are slightly different from when they met in 2011. The US is a prohibitive favorite to win this thing after knocking Germany out earlier this week. It'll be on Fox Sports.
