A Wet Tuesday Cardinal Couple

USA U19 Goes With The Flow...95-40 over Canada

LAUREN COX GOES FOR TWO
The USA Basketball U19 World Championship didn't need any inflatables to stay afloat in yesterday's game against Canada in the Spain U19 International Invitational with all available players scoring at least 4 points.  Meanwhile, a stifling defense kept Canada from getting out of the kiddie pool by holding them to only 40 points for the game.

The US got most of the errant splashes as well, collecting 52 rebounds, to Canada's 23.

Playing in the deep end, the US was led by Napheesa Collier with 19 points. Azurá Stevens nearly got a double-double with 15 and nine rebounds.  Shakayla Thomas also got into double-digits with 14.  A'ja Wilson soaked up 10 rebounds, and also barely missed out on the double-double with nine points.

Our Mariya Moore rained five points in with two of five shooting from the field and sinking her only free-throw.  She also got five rebounds, a pair of assists, a block, and a steal.

The US finishes the round-robin tournament with a game this afternoon vs host Spain, who beat Canada by 10 and nearly drowned vs Australia in a 22 point loss.

KELSI WORRELL MAKES WAVES
Cardinal Kelsi Worrell may hit the pool today in the 4x100meter freestyle relay, as its not confirmed whether she will be competing in this event or not.  If she doesn't compete in the free relay, she'll make her first splash Thursday in the 100meter Butterfly, perhaps her signature event.

Her other event is as a member of the 4x100meter medley relay team, which will take place Saturday.

Look for updates from the UofL Swimming and Diving twitter account on the right side of the site.  They've been pretty good about posting updates for Cardinal Swimmers this summer.

Also keep a look out for Joao De Lucca who graduated from UofL, and Carlos Claverie, a rising UofL sophomore, who will be competing on the men's side of the competition.

Joao will compete in the 200 free, 800 free relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay and will be representing Brazil. Carlos, who will be representing Venezuela, will swim in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM.
