Answering your recruiting questions

Thanks to the reader who asked about Marion County verbal commits Makayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers. I was negligent in omitting information regarding them as well as 2012 signee Megan Deines.
Megan Deines 2012 signee is a 6-1 guard playing for Glendale High School in Springfield, MO. While I cannot find official stats for her this season, several of the articles I have found on line report repeated double digit scoring for her. I also found a nice article that I think is worth sharing.

More information is readily available regarding Marion County 2013 verbal commits Makayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers. Marion County also attended the Nike Tournament of Champions (TOC) this past December. It appears the team went 2-2 matching up against some of the best talent in the country.
Marion County is currently ranked #1in the State and 26th in the country according to Powerade Fab 50. Marion County will be playing local basketball powerhouse Manual High School on January 14 at Marion County. This should be a good game, Manual being ranked #31 nationally in the Fab 50.
Makayla Epps , point guard, is averaging 15.7 ppg, 3.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.8 steals. Kyvin Gooden-Rogers a forward is averaging 14 ppg, 8.5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1.8 assists and 1.3 blocks. These are nice stat lines for these young ladies. They are leading their team in a 13-2 season thus far, the only losses coming in the TOC.
David Watson asked about Aja Ellison, daughter of former Louisville star Pervis Ellison. Last I have heard Coach Walz offered a scholarship to this young prospect (class of 2014) last spring in her freshman season. I cannot find any official stats on Aja, or any additional information about what other programs are recruiting her, but articles on-line indicate she is scoring a lot. A very recent performance had her scoring 25 points and pulling down 17 rebounds for her team, Shipley. Pretty impressive for a sophomore.
Following recruiting is difficult. Athletic programs are not allowed to comment on player recruitment until a player signs their National Letter of Intent. Media outlets are allowed to talk to recruits, so often I am finding my information by way of ESPN Hoopgurlz and various other recruiting websites and blogs.
