ACC WSOC TOURNAMENT ENDS FOR LOUISVILLE
It wasn't the best of evenings for Louisville Women's Soccer last night in Cary, NC.
It'll probably be...however... one that Virginia forward Diana Ordonez will remember for a long time, though. Her "hat trick" of three goals against UofL led to a 4-1 Virginia victory over the Cards in the ACC Womens Soccer Tournament quarterfinals.
The Cards allowed a couple of goals each quarter in the loss, which effectively ended their fall campaign. Louisville could muster but one score, coming from Emina Ekic -- coming with two minutes left in the first half off a beautifully placed goal kick.
The Cards were out-shot 21-8 in the match and seemed to have no answers at times against a relentless UVA attack that kept Louisville goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos scrambling most of the 90 minutes. The four goals were the most scored upon the Cards this season and equaled the high for last season when BYU put four scores on Louisville in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
With the fall session completed for UofL WSOC now, one wonders about the future for the Cards offensive star Emina Ekic. Already honored on Senior Day ceremonies and with the pro leagues beckoning...plus Louisville Racing EC being a pro venue for WSOC now entering the NWSL, one has to wonder if we've seen the final match featuring Ekic on the pitch for UofL. Her 29 goals scored in her four year stint at UofL rank fourth in program history.
The Kickin' Cards end the fall session with a 4-5 record.

VETERANS DAY
To all that have served in defense of our country, we extend Veterans Day thanks and greetings.
To the Fighter Squadron Composite (VFC) 111 (The Sundowners and the Flying Conchs) and all servicemen....
Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it, it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it and the continued breaths of those who choose to protect and honor it.
Thank you.

She's The Preseason ACC WBB Player of the Year, been named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Top 20 preseason list (for top point guard) and Wooden Award Top 30 list....just to name a couple...
The Cards are the preseason pick to win the ACC and Hailey Van Lith and Kianna Smith have been named to the ACC Newcomers To Watch list.
We can't wait for hoops to start and pledge to give you the best coverage we can on the Cardinals WBB squad.
